SAMBA, Mar 12: Police in Samba district today claimed they have foiled a bovine smuggling bid by rescuing three animals from the clutches of the smugglers. A vehicle used for the transportation of the animals was also seized.
Acting on specific information regarding bovine smuggling, a team of Police Station Samba intercepted a vehicle (JK02DK-3980) at Nanke Chak area, a police official said.
On checking, three animals were found tied inside the vehicle in a cruel manner without having any valid permission, he said.
Accordingly, a case FIR number 64/2025 under section 223 BNS and 11 PCA was registered against the unidentified accused at Police Station Samba and further investigation started.
