Building an engaged Instagram following in 2025 isn’t as easy as it seems, especially with millions of creators vying for attention. With over 2 billion active users on the platform, standing out is harder than ever. The numbers say it all. According to a study by Mention, 26.43% of users have less than 1,000 followers, while nearly 50% sit between 1,000 to 10,000. Only a small fraction, 15.21%, break into the 10K+ range, making it clear that organic growth isn’t easy.
Like many others, I was stuck in the low-follower category despite posting consistently and using the right hashtags. That’s when I stumbled upon Grum, a platform that claims to offer free Instagram followers. I was sceptical but curious—could this be the boost I needed? I decided to give it a shot. Here’s my experience.
What is Grum?
Grum is a platform dedicated to making life easier for Instagram users. They offer many Instagram tools and services. Some of their tools include:
- Instagram Bio Generator
- Instagram Hashtag Generator
- Instagram Caption Generator
- Instagram Earning Calculator
- Instagram Content Idea Generator
- Instagram Fake Followers Checker, and so on.
Most of Grum’s tools help with SEO and increase the chances of your account being discovered by your target audience. Grum also offers some Instagram services which include Instagram likes, views, comments, and followers, all for free! I was intrigued when I came across these, as all other similar websites I had seen were charging a lot of money for this. It was almost too good to be true but I took a leap of faith and gave Grum a chance since it was costing me nothing.
Signing Up and First Impressions
After browsing through their site and checking their various services, I decided to sign up. I later discovered, though, that you can gain full access to all their services without creating an account. The sign-up process was quite easy. I provided my desired username, email address, nickname (optional), and password. A confirmatory link was sent to my email within seconds, and my account set-up was complete.
Grum’s website has a nice interface that is user-friendly and easy to navigate. One thing that particularly impressed me was their blogs under each tool or service. These blogs provide steps on how to use each tool, precautions to take, the benefits, tips, and answers to questions you might not have even thought of. These blogs provided all the guidance I needed to effectively use their tools.
Getting Free Followers – The Process
Before trying the free followers, I wanted to revamp my profile a little so I used Grum’s Instagram Bio Generator to create a new bio description. I was asked to briefly describe myself. I described myself as “An upcoming R&B artist who loves to play guitar.”
Next, I selected “Engaging” as the tone of the description and selected “Yes” for emoji and hashtags to be added. The results were truly impressive. It was as if the Grum AI knew exactly who I was. I edited the result to my taste and then added it to my profile.
I then moved on to the main service that led me to Grum, the free followers. All I had to do to claim the free followers was to provide the link to my Instagram page and set my Instagram account to public. Grum does not require any private details like a password to access your account.
Next, I selected the number of followers I wanted. Grum allows you to choose between 10, 25, 50 and 100 followers. I selected the 100 followers, then waited for the results.
Did Grum Actually Work?
About an hour after I applied for the 100 followers, I noticed the number of my followers had increased by 12. The rest were gradually added over the next four hours. 12 hours after the order, I noticed only 91 followers had been added.
I waited a few more hours to see if the rest would be added but it never came. I was not sure whether to contact support since it was a free service. Instead, I tried to apply for a new batch of 100 followers but discovered I could only apply once a week. This is because since it’s a free service, limits are imposed.
After this discovery, I contacted support via mail and made a complaint. They responded after an hour, gave an apology, and assured me the rest would be added soon. 10 new followers were later added after the complaint.
I applied again a week later and this time I got the complete 100 followers. I kept applying weekly for 2 months and by the end, I gained over 1000 free followers!
Now in terms of the quality of these followers, I must confess that the majority of them did not engage with my posts. They only served as a prop to help me gain more visibility–and it worked. My posts started reaching new people who interacted with them and I gained some new organic followers. The free followers from Grum helped position my account as an authority figure and tricked Instagram’s algorithm into making my music videos appear more on people’s feeds.
Long-Term Effects of Using Grum’s Free Followers
If done strategically, using Grum’s free followers can pay off over time. One big benefit is that more followers on my profile gave potential subscribers greater confidence and attraction. Many Instagram users follow already visible accounts believing they provide worthwhile content. Over time, this impact can help draw actual followers as people are more willing to interact with an account appearing reputable.
Improved reach for my posts is another advantage. Instagram’s algorithm pushed my music videos to a larger audience as my profile seemed more authoritative. More natural interaction resulted from this enhanced visibility, particularly in light of my regular posts of excellent content with quality graphics.
If you are a business or influencer, more followers will appeal to possible sponsorships and partnerships. Many companies consider follower counts while selecting influencers to collaborate with; even though interaction is vital, a high following base lends credibility.
Still, it’s important to supplement these followers with real ones. Grum gave me a boost, but real long-term progress resulted from creating a community that loved my music. I mixed Grum’s free followers with organic strategies like consistent posting, responding to comments, and using Instagram’s Reels and Stories to maximise the advantages. To increase their visibility, I also started utilizing pertinent and ranking hashtags on postings.
Overall, Grum’s free followers can serve as a useful stepping stone, especially for newer accounts looking to gain initial traction. As long as you balance it with authentic engagement and high-quality content, it can be a valuable tool in your Instagram growth strategy. From my growth on Instagram, I was able to finally start getting called for small performing gigs and now I have an album on the way.
The Catch – What They Don’t Tell You
The major drawback of using Grum was that it some services are slow. You can only apply for 100 free followers, while you can get more from other panels. Also, you may not get up to the followers you apply for, but you can contact support when this happens or simply apply again. Of course, if you want to get more followers, you can also purchase their paid plans. However, I haven’t tried yet.
Grum vs. Famety
I also checked out other free Instagram followers services and one of them was Famety. Famety offers 10 free Instagram followers every 12 hours and all I had to do was provide my Instagram username and set my account to public.
One good thing about Famety is that they always deliver the complete 10 followers in less than an hour. However, this is small compared to what Grum offers. With Grum, you can gain up to 100 free followers. Also, I feel like the quality of Grum’s followers is higher. Their followers seem like real people with posts, stories, and highlights, while Famety followers are clearly bots.
Conclusion – Is Grum Worth It?
Grum may not be the fastest way to grow your Instagram following, but for a completely free service, it delivers excellent results. If you’re patient and apply regularly, your follower count will grow, making your profile appear more credible. But most of these followers won’t connect with your content, hence you shouldn’t anticipate substantial engagement from them.
That said, if you’re looking for an easy, no-cost way to give your account a slight push, Grum is worth a try. And if you want to gain a larger amount of followers, you can opt for their paid services which deliver up to 100,000 followers. But If you need active followers who engage with your posts, organic strategies or paid promotions remain the better options.
