DIG Udhampur inaugurates Volleyball tourney

UDHAMPUR, Apr 1: In a heartfelt tribute to PSI Deepak Sharma, who sacrificed his life in the service of the nation, the District Police Udhampur today inaugurated a three-day Volleyball Tournament at District Police Lines (DPL) Udhampur. The event, part of the Civic Action Programme 2024-25, is organized in collaboration with the Volleyball Association of Udhampur.
DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Rayees Mohammad Bhat, inaugurated the tournament in the presence of SSP Udhampur Amod Nagpure, Additional SP Udhampur, DySP Headquarters, DySP DAR Udhampur, along with officials and local sports enthusiasts.
DIG Bhat emphasized the importance of sports in youth development, highlighting how it fosters physical and mental well-being while steering young people away from negative influences such as drug addiction and extremism. He urged participants to draw inspiration from sportsmanship and discipline to achieve success in life.
The tournament, running from April 1 to 4, features 8 teams from different parts of Udhampur District. The inaugural match between Udhampur Volleyball Club and Thial Volleyball Club ended with a victory for Udhampur Volleyball Club, setting a competitive tone for the tournament.
