JAMMU, Apr 5: As massive search operations continued in the forests and mountains of Billawar in Kathua district, fresh firing was again reported today from upper reaches of Ramkot but the terrorists remained untraced.

Security forces have expanded search operations to upper reaches of Ramkot and other areas of Billawar to ensure that the terrorists don’t manage to escape.
Officials said firing was reported from Ramkot forests in the evening as security forces were advancing towards the upper reaches. Firing lasted few minutes and then stopped.
As per the officials, security forces are also firing to dominate the forests and ensure that the hiding terrorists are eliminated before they could manage to strike again.
Army, police, Special Operations Group (SOG) and paramilitary forces have been carrying out operations at multiple places in the upper reaches of Billawar where three terrorists, who escaped from Safiyan Jakhole are expected to be hiding. Apart from them, there could be another group of the terrorists already operating in Billawar, the sources said.
Last night, firing was reported from village Dungiani, also in Billawar area when security forces were conducting search operations. In Razawal area of Billawar, a woman informed police last evening that she observed movement of three suspects.
“Multiple search operations are being conducted at multiple places in Billawar’s forests and mountains to ensure that the terrorists don’t manage to escape,” the sources said.
Five terrorists were spotted by a family near a sprawling Nursery at village Sanyal in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district on March 23. However, they escaped before security forces laid a cordon. Movement of the terrorists was again observed at village Safiyan Jakhole in Rajbagh area of Kathua on March 27 leading to fierce encounter in which two terrorists were killed and four police personnel were martyred.
Three terrorists who escaped from Safiyan Jakhole surfaced at village Rui on March 29 when they forcibly took away some food from a woman after intruding into her house. Again, security forces launched searches in the area but the terrorists, one of whom was in injured condition, escaped.
The terrorists were trapped at Panjtirthi forests of Billawar in Kathua district on March 31 night leading to heavy exchange of gun battle but they slipped away.
