CSIR-IIIM, Pankajakasthuri collaborate on research for Bronchial Asthma treatment

JAMMU, Apr 7: In a significant stride toward merging traditional medicine with modern scientific research, the CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR-IIIM), Jammu today entered into a collaborative agreement with Kerala-based M/s Pankajakasthuri India (P) Ltd.
This partnership, which focuses on pre-clinical validation of a poly-herbal formulation aimed at managing bronchial asthma, was officially signed under the AYUSH framework.
The agreement was formalized in a signing ceremony held at CSIR-IIIM, with Dr Zabeer Ahmed, Director of CSIR-IIIM and Dr J Hareendran Nair, founder and managing director of Pankajakasthuri India.
The partnership aims to scientifically validate Pankajakasthuri’s poly-herbal formulation by integrating traditional wisdom with cutting-edge scientific research.
As part of the project, CSIR-IIIM will conduct detailed phytochemical standardization, in-vitro bioassays, in-vivo studies and toxicity assessments.
Dr Zabeer Ahmed highlighted the groundbreaking nature of this collaboration, emphasizing its potential to scientifically validate AYUSH-based products and contribute to India’s efforts in advancing integrative medicine.
He also noted the strong support from the Ministry of AYUSH and the Government of India.
Dr J Hareendran Nair expressed his confidence that this collaboration with CSIR-IIIM, will enhance the public’s trust in Pankajakasthuri’s products.
Similarly, Kishan Chand, executive director of Pankajakasthuri, expressed satisfaction with the in-depth discussions held with CSIR-IIIM’s scientific team, which will lead the project’s execution.
Earlier, Dr P P Singh presented an overview of the institute’s notable achievements.
This collaboration signifies a major milestone in advancing health innovations that blend traditional remedies with modern research methodologies.
It reinforces the shared commitment to sustainability, community well-being and the development of healthcare solutions grounded in both tradition and science.
The event was organized by the RMBD&IST section, guided by Abdul Rahim, Chief Scientist and Head of RMBD&IST.
This collaboration represents a significant milestone in advancing integrative medicine and promoting health innovations rooted in tradition and science.
Among others who graced the event included Dr Naved Qazi (Head, NPMC), Dr Prasoon Gupta (Senior Principal Scientist, NPMC), Dr Raj Kishore Rai (Senior Scientist & Head, QMI) and other distinguished scientists.
