JAMMU, Apr 8: Senior BJP leader and former Minister, Bali Bhagat strongly criticized the Members of Legislative Assembly belonging to the National Conference (NC) for creating a ruckus over the Waqf Bill passed in the Parliament, during the ongoing Assembly session.
He said that the uncalled-for uproar is nothing but a deliberate attempt to mislead the people and divert attention from the real and pressing issues facing the Union Territory.
In a sharp statement issued here, today, Bali Bhagat said that the NC Government has miserably failed to fulfill its poll promises and is now trying to cover up its failures by unnecessarily politicizing sensitive matters like the Waqf Board. “The opposition being staged over the Waqf Bill is merely a political stunt by the NC to distract public attention from unemployment, lack of development, and rising frustration among the common people due to their non-performance,” he said.
The senior BJP leader asserted that the Waqf Board Bill, passed in Parliament, is a well-intentioned step aimed at bringing transparency and accountability in the management of Waqf properties across the country, including Jammu and Kashmir.
He said the move is intended to ensure that Waqf assets are utilized for the welfare of the intended beneficiaries and not for political manipulation or personal gains.
“The NC MLAs are creating unnecessary noise on the floor of the House not because they care about the community, but because they fear losing control over Waqf assets that were mismanaged during their rule,” he alleged.
The former Minister further accused the National Conference of playing communal politics at the cost of development and public interest. “Instead of discussing development, infrastructure, and people’s welfare, the NC is indulging in theatrics inside the Assembly. This exposes their true intentions,” he added.
Bali Bhagat urged the people of Jammu and Kashmir to see through the NC’s diversionary tactics and stand united in support of the BJP’s vision of a transparent and developed Jammu & Kashmir.
