SKIMS reshuffles roles, renames NMC section

Srinagar, Apr 8: Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura, has carried out several administrative changes, including the designation of spokespersons, the renaming of the National Medical Commission (NMC) section, and the nomination of a Registrar for Births and Deaths.
As per an order issued by the Director, SKIMS Soura, Prof Mohammad Akbar Shah from the Department of Critical Care Medicine has been nominated as the official spokesperson of SKIMS, in addition to his existing duties.
Further, Prof Samina Mufti from the Department of Hospital Administration has been nominated as the official deputy spokesperson of SKIMS, also in addition to her existing responsibilities.
In a separate order, the Director stated that sanction has been accorded to rename the NMC section as the SKIMS Accreditation Section, noting that its functions will remain the same as previously notified.
The institution has also placed the supervision and control of the SKIMS Accreditation Section under Prof Aijaz Ahmad Malik from the Department of General Surgery.
“Consequent upon the appointment of Prof Fazlul Qadir Parray as Principal SKIMS Medical College & Hospital, Bemina, and in supersession of office order under reference…it is hereby ordered that SKIMS Accreditation Section shall henceforth function under the overall supervision and control of Prof Aijaz Ahmad Malik, Head, Department of General Surgery, SKIMS Soura, in addition to his duties…,” the order reads.
Lastly, SKIMS has nominated Prof Farooq Ahmad Jan, Medical Superintendent, SKIMS, as Registrar of Births and Deaths.
“In order to comply the provisions of the Registration of Births & Deaths Act-1969 and in compliance to the issuance of S.O. 47, dated 20-02-2025, sanction is accorded to the nomination of Prof Farooq Ahmad Jan…in addition to his own duties,” an order issued in this regard read.
