JAMMU, Apr 9: Eminent Dogri poet and Music Composer Brij Mohan’s collection of poetry entitled ‘MANE DE AAHLE’ today was selected for the prestigious Prof Ram Nath Shastri Memorial Award 2025.
The decision in this regard was taken by a jury comprising eminent Dogri writers.
In a press note, Padmashri Prof Lalit Magotra, president, Dogri Sanstha said that the award is given every year by Dogri Sanstha Jammu in collaboration with the family of Prof Ram Nath Shatstri to the best of all books which are the first publication of the author for the last five years.
The award carries a memento, shawl and a cash prize of Rs 21,000.
This is the 12th award and is given with the sole purpose of not only acknowledging the contributions of the Dogri authors but also inspiring them to contribute for preserving and promoting mother tongue Dogri.
He further added that this year also Sanstha got quite a good number of books and after shortlisting the same, seven books got into the final. The consolidated decision of a jury of five prolific Dogri writers went in favour of Brij Mohan’s collection of poetry ‘MANE DE AAHLE’.
He congratulated Brij Mohan and said that he is a passionate poet who knows the art of giving words to the contents thus touching the soul of poetry.
Rajeshwar Singh ‘Raju’, General secretary Dogri Sanstha Jammu said that Prof Ram Nath Shastri is the father of Dogri Literature.
He said that he is a household name for his scintillating music compositions in Dogri. At the same time he is also an eminent poet having written several immensely popular Dogri songs, Bhajans, ‘TARANAS’ for Jammu University, Dogri Sanstha and several other Institutions and organizations.
In a meeting, sons of Prof Ram Nath Shastri, Ajit Khajuria and Dinesh Khajuria, decided that the award will be presented on April 14th ‘2025.
