JAMMU, Apr 9: Three drug peddlers were arrested in the Satwari area late Tuesday night after they attacked a police team during a raid.
Two police personnel were injured in the incident. Around sixteen grams of heroin and a sharp-edged weapon has also been recovered from the suspects.
A police official said that the incident happened in Raina Colony, Satwari.
According to him, acting on a tip-off about the presence of drug peddlers, a police team reached the area and signalled a suspicious vehicle to stop.
The suspects, however, tried to flee by ramming their car into the police team, injuring two personnel, he said.
To control the situation, police fired warning shots and managed to apprehend three individuals, the police official said.
He said a car used by the accused was also seized from the spot.
Police sources said that one of the arrested men is a known offender who was recently released from jail after being booked under the NDPS Act.
While a case has been registered under the relevant sections of the law and further investigation is underway.
