JAMMU: The vibrant festival of Baisakhi, symbolizing prosperity, unity, and new beginnings, was celebrated with great zeal and cultural fervour at JK Public School, Kunjwani.

The event commenced on a joyous note with an energetic introduction titled “Sone Wargi Peeliya Kanka”, instantly infusing the entire gathering with a wave of positivity and festive spirit.
The celebration was graced by the esteemed presence of Shashi Chaudhary, Director, JK Educational Society; Rajesh Rathore, Principal; Roopinder Kaur, Vice Principal; Inderjeet Kaur, School Coordinator; and Anju Raj, Primary Wing Coordinator, along with a host of enthusiastic teachers and students.
Ananya, a student of Class X, eloquently highlighted the multifaceted significance of Baisakhi. She emphasized that beyond being a harvest festival, Baisakhi symbolizes courage, unity, and gratitude for the fruits of hard work. She also elaborated on its profound religious importance for Sikhs, marking the historic establishment of the Khalsa Panth by Guru Gobind Singh Ji in 1699, a moment that ushered in a new era of spiritual awakening and equality.
The cultural programme was a feast for the senses. The Primary Wing choir won hearts with their soul-stirring rendition of “Shaan Punjab Di Ae”. The enthusiasm soared as students performed an energetic Bhangra to the beats of the popular folk number “Kut Kut Bajra Main Kothe Utte Paandi Haan”, drawing thunderous applause from the audience.
A self-composed Punjabi poem “Tyohar Wale Tyohar Vich Ek Tyohar Aur Aaya” was beautifully recited by Harleen Kour of Class XII, celebrating the essence of Baisakhi. This was followed by a melodious solo performance by Jesmeh Singh of Class XII, whose song “Aayi Baisakhi” left everyone spellbound with its serene and joyful tone.
The event also paid a thoughtful tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, honouring his enduring vision of a society founded on the principles of equality, brotherhood, and justice.
In his concluding address, Principal Rajesh Rathore commended the students for their outstanding performances and meaningful expressions. He reflected on the life and struggles of Dr. Ambedkar and the earnest need of the hour to learn from his sublime teachings.
He drew a poignant parallel between the literal harvest of crops and the metaphorical harvest of students’ hard work and perseverance. He urged students to embody the spirit of Baisakhi – to strive, to rise, and to celebrate the milestones they achieve through dedication and unity.
The celebration truly reflected the cultural richness and inclusive spirit that JK Public School Kunjwani continues to uphold with pride.
