UDHAMPUR, Apr 11: Udhampur Police foiled two smuggling attempts and rescued 35 bovines besides arresting four smugglers.
A police team led by SHO Chenani Jaswinder Singh intercepted two trucks JK19A-9004 and JK14C-8877 and rescued 27 bovines, which were being transported in a cruel manner without valid permission.
Drivers of the trucks, namely Sahil of Banihal and Barkat Ali of Rajpura were arrested on the spot. FIRs 37/2025 & 38/2025 have been registered in this connection at Police Station Chenani.
Meanwhile, a team of Police Station Majalta rescued 8 more bovines, which were being smuggled on foot towards Kashmir. Two smugglers, identified as Junaid and Jabbar, both resident of Dhani Bhagta, were apprehended. FIR 33/2025 has been registered in this connection at Police Station Majalta.
