AIIMS Vijaypur honoured with ‘Achievement Award for Best Construction Projects’ at CIDC Vishwakarma Awards 2025

JAMMU: In a historic and proud moment for the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, Ahluwalia Contracts (India) Ltd. (ACIL) has been honoured with the prestigious CIDC Vishwakarma Award 2025 for Best Construction Project for the AIIMS Jammu Hospital Complex, Vijaypur, Jammu by the Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC).

CIDC was established in 1996 by the Planning Commission, Government of India (now NITI Aayog), along with constituents of the Indian construction industry, as the apex organization to professionalize and improve the functioning of the industry.
The award, presented on April 11, 2025, in New Delhi during the 16th CIDC Vishwakarma Awards 2025 and Exhibition on Nation Building – Vision 2047, recognises the AIIMS Jammu Hospital Complex as a national model of excellence in infrastructure development.
In addition to this prestigious award, Ahluwalia Contracts (India) Ltd has previously received multiple accolades for the AIIMS Vijaypur Jammu project, including the ‘Certificate of Merit’ at the CE & CR Awards 2024 for Sustainable Green Construction Technologies, and recognition for achieving 28 million safe manhours during the construction of the Hospital and Academic Campus.
Furthermore, the project won the Green Construction Footprint Award in the category of ‘Construction Workers’ Health and Safety during Construction,’ and the AIIMS Jammu Project In-Charge was honoured with the ‘Best Project Manager of the Year’ award.
The award was received by Balvinder Kumar Sharma, General Manager (Projects), Ahluwalia Contracts (India) Limited, the firm responsible for executing the construction of the AIIMS Jammu campus. His presence at the ceremony marked the appreciation of the collaborative efforts between the Institution and the executing agency in realizing the project’s vision.
On this occasion, the Director of AIIMS Jammu extended his heartfelt congratulations and deep appreciation to the entire ACIL team for their remarkable professionalism, dedication, and quality execution of the project. He also fondly recalled the journey shared with ACIL over the past few years-marked by challenges, trust, and mutual commitment.
In a heartening gesture of mutual respect, ACIL too expressed their gratitude for the unwavering support and visionary leadership of the Director of AIIMS Jammu, stating that his continuous encouragement and strategic guidance were instrumental in delivering the project ahead of schedule and with uncompromised quality.
For ACIL, this project was not just another assignment-it became a labour of love. As stated by their leadership, “We have built institutions before, but with AIIMS Jammu, we built a relationship.”
Prof (Dr) Shakti Kumar Gupta, Executive Director & CEO, AIIMS Jammu, expressed his delight and pride over this recognition. In his message, he stated, “This recognition by CIDC is a reflection of our commitment to building a state-of-the-art Institution that integrates medical excellence with modern infrastructure. I congratulate every stakeholder involved in this journey – from the planners and engineers to the on-ground teams – for making this possible.”
