JAMMU: In a vibrant display of faith, unity, and devotion, the city of Jammu witnessed a grand celebration of Hanuman Jayanti, organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal. Devotees from across the region gathered to participate in the majestic Shobha Yatra (procession), marking the auspicious Jayanti of Bhagwan Hanuman, the revered deity known for his strength, devotion, and courage.
The Shobha Yatra commenced from the VHP Shakti Ashram Office and made its way through the city’s prominent routes, eventually culminating at the historic Shri Raghunath Temple. The air was filled with devotional chants, the rhythmic beat of drums, and the energy of thousands of devotees who walked with reverence and enthusiasm.

The procession was nothing short of a spectacle, with beautifully adorned tableaux (jhankis) becoming the center of attraction. Particularly captivating were the vibrant representations brought in by Matrishakti Durga Vahini and several other social organizations, symbolizing divine strength and cultural heritage. These artistic displays not only paid tribute to Bhagwan Hanuman’s valour but also celebrated the spirit of Indian mythology and tradition.
As the Yatra reached Shri Raghunath Temple, a grand aarti was performed in an atmosphere charged with devotion. The divine rituals were followed by the distribution of Mahaprasad, a sacred offering shared among all devotees, fostering a sense of communal harmony and spiritual fulfillment.
The city warmly welcomed the procession, with local residents lining the streets to offer flowers, sweets, and heartfelt greetings. The community’s enthusiasm and generous participation turned the event into a citywide celebration, reflecting the collective spirit of unity and devotion.
Prior to the Shobha Yatra, a sacred hawan and purnahuti were performed, invoking divine blessings for peace and prosperity. A traditional bhandara (community feast) was also organized, bringing together people from all walks of life to partake in the holy offerings and strengthen social bonds.
The organizers expressed their heartfelt gratitude to every individual, organization, and volunteer who contributed to the success of the event. “This Shobha Yatra stands as a symbol of our cultural pride and spiritual unity. It is through the support of the entire society and all associated institutions that this celebration has been so successful. We extend our deepest thanks to everyone,” said one of the VHP leaders.
The celebration of Hanuman Jayanti in Jammu this year was not merely an event but a vibrant testament to faith, tradition, and community spirit. As chants of Jai Bajrang Bali echoed through the city, it was evident that Bhagwan Hanuman’s legacy continues to inspire strength, selfless service, and unwavering devotion in the hearts of millions.
The Hanuman Janmotsav was also celebrated with religious fervour in the premises of Paracheen Mahalaxmi Temple Pacca Danga in Old City of Jammu.
On the occasion Sat Paul Shastri, Suresh Shastri and large numbers of devotees recited Hanuman Chalisa and Sunderkand Path in a traditional manner.
Religious Scholars briefed the devotees about the religious importance of Hanuman Janmotsav. They said that Hanuman Janmotsav is considered as one of the significant festival and Hanuman followers has been celebrating the festival every year with great enthusiasm.
Later Parshad was also served among the devotees after the culmination of recitation of Hanuman Chalisa Path followed by Aarti.
Subash Shastri, Bodh Raj Sharma, Sumeet Gupta, Gourab, Sevak Vijay Salathia etc. were present on the occasion.
