The spring season, which marks the end of winter normally starts from first week of March. In the spring season, nature is in full bloom and the almond blossoms and blooming of Yemberzal Flower Narcissus (Botanical name) mark the advent of spring season. The spring season symbolizes festivity and gaiety as people celebrate the pleasant weather and blossoms all across in Jammu and Kashmir.
Badamwari Garden is a piece of heaven tucked away in Srinagarcity. After braving the vagaries of harsh winter, Badamwari is thefirst to reverberate with life on the onset of spring season inKashmir. Locals assemble inside the almond garden andannounce the arrival of spring with music and mirth. Apart fromalmonds, different other varieties of flowers are present in thegarden which present a scintillating view.
The Badamwari Park also has trails carved for tourists to walk on.During spring, the delicate pink beauty of the flowering almondtrees looks fairy tale pretty. In March and April, the almondgarden offers breathetaking views of beautiful almond blossomsand cascades of other flowers of Kashmir which become asource of attraction for nature lovers and tourists, alike.
The early bloom of flowers on Almond trees in the sprawling historic Badamwari garden in Shahr-e-Khaas has become a source of attraction for nature lovers and tourists, alike. Situated on foothills of Koh-e-Maran, the 300 kanals garden was dotted with trees, flowers and cascades providing a soothing experience to the visitors.
Historians maintain there was no record to suggest who laid the garden but they say it existed even before the rule of Sultan Zain-ul-Abidin in the 14th century. A well covered dome in the garden is named after an Afghan ruler, Warris Khan. The bloom on the Almond trees heralded the spring and marked the New Year for Kashmiris. But with the passage of time, particularly during the past three decades, it has lost its glory. As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility and Heritage Trust, the garden was revived by the JK Bank and formally thrown open for public in 2008.
This garden is nowadays visited by a large number of nature lovers and visitors. The Badamwari Garden is in full bloom during the spring season. The aura of the garden has fragrant airs and beautiful white flowers. One can spend a wonderful time at the Badamwari garden and can stroll along the walkways and watch the beautiful flowers. An evening at the garden is really refreshing to feel awesome enjoying the scenic beauty of the garden.
Between mid-March and mid-April, the almond trees in Badamwari burst into bloom, transforming the garden into a canvas of delicate pink and white flowers. The air is filled with a gentle fragrance, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in the serene beauty of their surroundings. Photographers and tourists flock to this idyllic spot, eager to capture the breathtaking views and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere that the garden offers.
Badamwari’s strategic location near significant cultural landmarks, including the revered HazratMakhdoom Sahib shrine and GurdwaraChattiPadshahi, adds to its allure. This combination of natural beauty and historical significance makes it a favoured destination for both locals and travellers seeking a peaceful retreat amid the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Recognising its growing popularity, the FloricultureDepartment has undertaken initiatives to enhance its charm.Thousands of lavender trees have been planted on the upper side ofthe garden, and plans are underway to develop it into a themegarden. This move is expected to attract even more visitors (/topic/visitors) in the future, adding a new dimension to the garden’sappeal.
Traditionally the spring season is associated with singing of spring folk songs, beginning of farming activities and family picnics. The spring season has potential of attracting a large number of tourists from different parts of the country and various countries who visit the UT during the mesmerizing spring to make their trip colorful and memorable.
Spring is widely celebrated in Kashmir with the help of various local events and festivals that depict a rich sense of the Kashmiri people’s traditions. Whether from the beautiful garden of Srinagar to that of Gulmarg, or silent meadows of Pahalgam, spring brings one adventure along with rest and cultural immersion to a better scale.
