SAMBA, Apr 12: Samba district witnessed a powerful fusion of sport and social reform today as volleyball courts sprang to life across 15 strategically chosen locations. Hundreds of enthusiastic youth took to the field-not just to compete, but to take a stand against drug addiction under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
Spearheaded by the Samba District Administration in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department and Youth Services & Sports, the large-scale campaign seamlessly blended athletic engagement with a strong anti-drug message. The event aimed not only to foster sporting spirit but also to divert youth from the lure of narcotics through structured, community-driven alternatives.
At Government Middle School Gudwal in Vijaypur, the initiative was officially inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma, who said, “What we witnessed today wasn’t just a sporting event-it was a social revolution unfolding through the spirit of sports”.
The simultaneous matches generated a festive atmosphere across Samba, with each volleyball court becoming a hub of positive energy and community bonding. Educational pamphlets detailing the harmful effects of drugs and information on support services were distributed among players and spectators, deepening the initiative’s impact.
As the day concluded, winners were honored in an emotional closing ceremony, and a heartfelt moment followed as all present-participants and onlookers alike-took a collective pledge to uphold Samba’s fight against drug abuse and steer the district toward a drug-free future.
