JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Sunday initiated action in connection with a major corruption case involving Bodh Raj, son of Chuni Lal, a resident of Nater Kothian, Muthi, Jammu.

During his tenure as the District Mineral Officer (DMO), Kathua, Bodh Raj allegedly indulged in large-scale corrupt practices and amassed Benami assets worth crores of rupees in the names of his family members and close relatives. These assets have been found to be grossly disproportionate to his known sources of income, ACB official said.
Following a secret verification based on a source report, official said, the ACB registered FIR No. 08/2024 under Section 13(1)(b) read with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 on August 24, 2024, at Police Station ACB Central, Jammu. Investigation into the case was promptly taken up.
During the course of the investigation, official disclosed, significant evidence came to light indicating large-scale financial transactions amounting to lakhs of rupees in the bank accounts of the accused’s relatives and friends.
The investigation further revealed that Bodh Raj was actively facilitated by his close associates, who allegedly assisted in parking illicit funds and making various investments to conceal the true nature and ownership of the wealth.
To gather further evidence and prevent potential destruction or concealment of crucial documents, official said, the ACB sought and obtained Search Warrants from a competent court of law.
Accordingly, simultaneous searches were conducted at multiple locations in Jammu and Kathua, particularly targeting the residential premises of Bodh Raj’s friends and family members, official added.
