JKCA hosts 2-day workshop to sharpen Coaches’ skills

JAMMU, Apr 16: In a bid to enhance the capabilities of its coaching staff, the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has launched a two-day workshop for State Skill Coaches under the guidance of BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE). The workshop is being held at the JKCA Hostel Ground on April 16 and 17.
A total of 24 Level-1 and Level-2 certified coaches, including both men and women, are participating. Among them are reputed names like Latika Sangwan, Punit Bisht, Roopali Slathia and Sarabjeet Singh.
Former India cricketer and Head of Education at BCCI-CoE, Sujith Somasundar, is leading the workshop. Emphasizing mental toughness and skill development, he said, “Coaches must help players overcome the fear of failure. Reframing failure as a learning experience and building resilience is key.”
Brigadier Anil Gupta, Member Administration, JKCA, inaugurated the event, urging coaches to “challenge their own methods” and “return as better-equipped mentors.” He highlighted the importance of learning, sharing, and evolving to uplift player performance.
The expert faculty also includes Amit Asawa (Batting), Sanjay Mullasseri (Bowling) and Apurva Desai (Master Faculty), supported by JKCA’s video analyst, Sahil Magotra.
JKCA’s initiative underscores its commitment to nurturing world-class talent through continual education and upskilling of coaches, aligning with its vision to elevate cricket in Jammu and Kashmir to the national and international stage.
