BALASORE, April 23: Grief-stricken Ishani village under Remuna block in Odisha’s Balasore district mourned the death of its youth, Prashant Satpathy, who was killed by terrorists in Pahalgam on Tuesday.
Prashant was on a holiday trip to Jammu & Kashmir with his family, including his wife and son, when he was shot dead by terrorists along with 27 others.
People from various walks of life, including political leaders, have been visiting his residence to offer condolences to the bereaved family.
Everyone in the village is now waiting for Prashant’s body to arrive so they can pay their final respects to the youth.
The family members of the deceased said they are making arrangements to perform the final rites on Thursday, and representatives of the state government are expected to attend the ceremony.
Prashant’s mother and other family members remain in a deep state of shock after receiving the devastating news.
His elder brother, Susanta Satpathy, broke down and said, “Prashant had promised me that we were born in one place and would not be separated till the end. We would live together and die together in the same place.”
He also informed that their younger brother, Jayanta Satpathy, and brother-in-law have reached Srinagar. The body is expected to arrive in Bhubaneswar by a direct flight from Srinagar via Delhi on Wednesday.
According to reports, Prashant was working as an accountant at the Central Institute of Plastic Engineering and Technology (CIPET) in Bampada, while his wife, Priyadarshini, works as a BPM in the Sadar CDPO office under Mission Shakti. (UNI)
