Police-public meet held at Trikuta Nagar Colony

JAMMU, Apr 29: A police-public meeting was organised today by Team Trikuta Nagar Welfare Society (TNWS) at the TNWS Complex, Main Market, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
The event was attended by S P Jammu South Ajay Kumar Sharma, SDPO South Shezan Bhat, and SHO Inspector Rajesh Jasrotia.
President TNWS Jammu, Rajinder P Kakkar, welcomed the officers on behalf of the residents by presenting a copy of the Bhagwat Geeta and a pink chunari to SP Ajay Kumar Sharma as a symbol of blessings.
Flowers were offered to SDPO Shezan Bhat, followed by the formal introduction of TNWS team members.
During the interactive session, residents raised multiple concerns. These included the rising issue of drug abuse within the colony, rash driving in internal lanes by outsiders, and the need for sharing beat constables’ contact details.
The residents also highlighted the shifting hot spots of drug abuse and demanded more frequent surprise nakas.
Additional concerns were raised over unverified chowkidars collecting fees from senior citizens, the need for tenant verification in vacant plots, and removal of roadside vendors to ease traffic congestion.
SP Ajay Kumar Sharma patiently addressed each point, assured prompt redressal, and urged community cooperation.
He announced that police would conduct monthly press briefings to keep the public informed and involved.
SDPO Shezan Bhat shared insights on rehabilitation and the importance of community feedback in tackling drug abuse.
General Secretary Advocate Harshvardhan Gupta presented a vote of thanks and encouraged residents to join TNWS as life members.
Prominent residents, including Indu Puri, Shailja Gupta, Vijay Gupta, Varinder Kapoor, Deepak Daftari, Kewal Sher, OP Sharma, Anil Sharma, NK Bali, Ashok Kumar Arora, SN Kaul, Ravinder Kaul, and Kulveer Singh participated in the meeting.
