Daily Wagers’ Sangharsh Samiti projects demands

DRWs to suspend work from May 13

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Apr 30: Cautioning the Government to suspend work from May 13, 2025, All Daily Wagers Sangharsh Samiti, J&K has urged the Government to address the pending issues of the daily wagers working in various departments, Asha workers, Mali-cum-Chowkidars and cooks working in Education Department.
Addressing a press conference here today, Chairman of the Sangharsh Samiti, Sunny Kant Chib said that despite assurance by the National Conference the issues of the daily wagers of PHE, PDD, I&FC and other departments could not be resolved. He said the NC led Government has failed to honour its manifesto and moreover, framing a committee for this purpose was just an eye wash.
Chib said the Mid Day Meals cooks, CPW’s, Land donors, Asha Workers, NYC, Irrigation & Flood Control, PDD, SPOs, Mali-com-Chowkidars and Anganwadi workers etc are struggling for their regularization since long.  Click here to watch video
These workers are managing the affairs of the departments and facing exploitation. The Government never bothered to take care of the problems being faced by these workers. The cooks in the Education Department have been continuously deceived by the authorities for the last ten years in the name of implementation of Minimum Wages Act. They were only given false assurances by the bureaucrats as well as the politicians.
He demanded that Government must come out with a Regularization policy. The land donors be provided compensation as per present rate as per Supreme Court guidelines.
It is unfortunate that over 50,000 families have been left in the lurch by the Government. Now, it has been unanimously decided by Union that `No Pay No Work’ formula will be observed from May 13, 2025 and all the CPWs Including land donors and Cooks will abstain from their duties and if wages are not given within week’s time, the program will be followed by hunger time and restriction of Union representatives to land donors will also. get lifted. The teacher community is also requested to provide their complete support and Co-operation to the protest program of CPW’s and cooks. If within one month’s time, demands are not met, the Samiti will leave work and go on strike and come on the roads and the Government will be responsible for the problem, he added.
