GMC Jammu recognized as Palliative Care Training Centre under Cancer Treatment Centers in India

JAMMU: A function was held on Saturday in which Government Medical College, Jammu was recognized as Palliative Care Training Centre under Cancer Treatment Centers in India from January 2020.
This was declared by Dr Sushma Bhatnagar, HOD, Onco-Anesthesia and Pain & Palliative Care, AIIMS, New Delhi who was guest or honour for the event.
Palliative care services were started in GMC Jammu on January 2020 when OPD services were established. this was followed by indoor palliative care facilities and establishment of eight bedded palliative care ward.
Further, a helpline No. 9070250150 started for the public in which the patient or attendants could contact doctors any time and take guidance from them for the services available.
The function was presided over by Dr. Shashi Sudan Sharma, Principal & Dean, GMC Jammu who thanked Dr. Sushma Bhatnagar for her efforts to establish the Palliative care services in our state and Medical College.
She also applauded the Palliative Care Team for their efforts with which they handle cancer patients in their end of life stage.
The function was organized by Palliative Care Team, GMC Jammu headed by Dr. Anju Jamwal (HOD, Anesthesia) along with Dr. Rajesh Mahajan (Prof. Anesthesia), Dr. Shabnam Choudhary (Prof. Pharmacology), Dr. Naine Bhadrala (Associate Prof. Anesthesia), Dr Shruti Gupta (Asst Prof. Anesthesia), Dr Neha Sharma (Asst Prof. Anesthesia) and Dr Rajdeep Kour (Asst Prof. Anesthesia).
Senior faculty members especially Dr Anita Vig (President, ISA, Jammu), Dr. Madan (Prof. Anesthesia), Dr. Ashwani (Prof. Anesthesia) and other members of faculty, residents and students attended the function.
