Mirpur Balidan Bhawan Samiti celebrates Baisakhi Parv

NEW DELHI, Apr 14: Like every year Mirpur Balidan Bhawan Samiti, in collaboration with Jammu Kashmir Peoples’ Forum, Delhi, celebrated Baisakhi Parv in its premises at Mirpur Balidan Bhawan, Lajpat Nagar-1, New Delhi.
The programme started with Drawing Competition of children from Mirpur Biradri in two groups of age between 5-10 years. and 10-16 years. Desh Bhakti songs/Poems were played and Musical Chair competition was also held among different groups of children as well as female adults and male adults.
The programme was presided over by Raman Puri, Vice Admiral (Retd) and the chief guest was Harsh Malhotra, Lok Sabha candidate from East Delhi. The Patrons of Mirpur Biradri, Justice (Retd) Bharat Bhushan Gupta and Justice (Retd) Vidhya Bhushan Gupta were also present.
The guests distributed awards and consolation prizes to children and first winners in Musical Chair Game. Approximate 300 people of Mirpur Biradri settled in Delhi, NCR and other places attended and enjoyed the programme.
Mahinder Mehta, Convenor, Jammu Kashmir Peoples’ Forum, Delhi; Dr Sudesh Ratan, President; Madan Mohan Gupta, General Secretary; Shyam Sunder Gupta, Treasurer and Co-ordinator and Vijay Mohan Gupta, Joint Secretary of the Committee organized the event.
Pertinent to mention that natives of Districts Mirpur (Tehsils Mirpur, Kotli and Bhimber) were displaced from Pakistan occupied Jammu Kashmir in 1947 and thousands of them were killed by Pak raiders after partition of the country. Some of the people who survived reached Jammu. The then State Govt of J&K allowed some of those families to settle in J&K and others (about 5300 families) were sent to other places of the country outside J&K. Presently these families are settled in Delhi, Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, UP, Uttaranchal, West Bengal, Goa etc.
