Phase wise health screening camp of sanitation workers initiated

JAMMU, May 11: Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu in collaboration with Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today initiated phase wise health screening camp for sanitation workers of the Corporation.
Under this initiative, regular screening and awareness camps will be held on every Saturday in different areas of Jammu. The first camp was held today at St John’s Catholic Church Bakshi Nagar in which 100 sanitation workers were screened for hypertension, diabetes, obesity and common cancers.
The camp was organized by Preventive Oncology Unit (POU) of State Cancer Institute (SCI) Jammu under Department of Community Medicine, which is committed to generate awareness, vaccinate and screen for common cancers and chronic diseases. The camp was conducted under the supervision of Dr Vinod Sharma (Health Officer, JMC) and Dr Deepak Kumar (Deputy Medical Superintendent, SCI Jammu).
A team of doctors from POU SCI Jammu including Dr Bhavna Langer (Nodal Officer and Associate Professor), Dr Kamna Singh (Lecturer), Dr Tasvinder, Dr Nahida, Dr Sakshi, Dr Imran, Dr Zahid, Dr Tasleem, Dr Amani, Dr Hemaal, Dr Khalid and Dr Rakesh (MO AYUSH) examined the sanitation workers.
The camps will be held under the directions and guidance of Rahul Yadav (Municipal Commissioner, JMC), Dr Ashutosh Gupta (Principal & Dean, GMC Jammu) and Dr Rajiv K Gupta (HoD, Department of Community Medicine).
