Rape accused arrested after 4 years from Kangra

REASI: Police on Wednesday arrested a rape accused from Kangra (Himachal Pradesh), who was on run for last 4 years. As per the details, a team of Police Station Arnas-Reasi arrested a rape accused who had gone underground after committing crime in June 2017.
Accused Manish Thakur, son of Tirath Ram, resident of Chassana, Mahore of district Reasi, who was absconding to avoid investigation & arrest in FIR no 53/2017 under sections 452,376, 506 of RPC registered at Police Station Chassana, after raping a 17 years old girl (name withheld) on June 3, 2017. After commission of crime, Manish Thakur evaded investigation by going underground & couldn’t be apprehended since registration of FIR, as he was continuously changing his hideouts in Mahore, Basholi and Himachal Pradesh. The investigation of case was transferred by the then SSP Reasi to SDPO Arnas.
By meticulously planning & coordinated efforts, Arnas Police chased the accused till his arrest. Medical opinion of minor girl was conducted & report has already been sought. With this arrest after a long chase, the final report of case will be produced in the court of law on merit.
