‘PWD should take consent of DDC members before starting development works’

JAMMU: Vice Chairman DDC Jammu, Suraj Singh Bhau on Wednesday chaired a meeting of R&B PWD officials to discuss the forthcoming development works.
In the meeting, all DDC members of Jammu district, Superintendent Engineer, R&B PWD, Executive Engineers, AEEs and JEs were present.
In the meeting several issues related to development works besides other works being carried under State Plan, BADP, City Town and several others schemes were discussed threadbare.
The DDC members expressed resentment against the functioning of PWD for not taking consent while carrying out development work in their respective areas.
They emphasized that they should be consulted before carrying out major development works falling under the J&K and central sponsored schemes.
Kuldeep Nathyal, Superintendent Engineer, R&B PWD, assured the DDC members that they would be consulted by the PWD officials before carrying out any major development works in their respective areas.
Suraj Bhau said that this is the first time in the history of Jammu and Kashmir that the present government headed by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha aims at providing an effective, responsive, transparent and clean administration.
He said corruption-free and transparent governance is the priority of the present dispensation.
He asked the PWD officials to make all possible efforts in resolving people’s issues by carrying out necessary development works for the welfare of the common masses.
