CB presents chargesheet in Rs 10 lakh fraud case, arrests another in Rs 5 lakh job scam

JAMMU: Special Crime Wing-CB Jammu on Monday filed a charge sheet against one Gurpreet Singh, son of Baljeet Singh, resident of Baramulla at present Lane No. 01, Swarn Colony Trilokpur, Camp Gole Gujral, Jammu in a fraud case.

Sandeep Mehta, SSP Special Crime wing, CB Jammu divulging the details said that charge sheet was filed against the fraudster in a Case FIR No. 15 of 2023 U/S 420 IPC of Police Station SCW Crime Branch Jammu before the Court of law at Jammu.
He said that fraudster duped complainants namely Mumtaz Ahmed, son of Late Mohd. Showkat and Parvaiz Ahmed, son of Mohd. Ishaq, both residents of Kalaban, Tehsil Mendhar, District Poonch on the pretext of managing jobs in Jammu and Kashmir Govt as Class IV Employees. The accused cheated them with dishonest and fraudulent means and duped their hard-earned money to the tune of Rs 10 lakhs. The accused at the time of seeking payment from complainant told them to provide the copy of the answer sheets to them and he will get these replaced with the new answer sheets with the help of his friends in SSRB. On different dates and installments, an amount of Rs. 10 lakhs was got transferred into the account of accused, Gurpreet Singh which is clear from the statements of Bank Accounts and the transactions made.
On receipt of this complaint, a preliminary verification was initiated by Crime Branch Jammu and during the course of enquiry the allegations levelled were prima-facie substantiated against the accused leading to the registration of a formal case against the accused under the relevant sections of law,” he added.
After a thorough investigation by the I.O Dy.SP Anita Katel, the case was finally proved against the accused person. A team of Special Crime Wing of Crime Branch, produced the accused before the court and produced charge sheet against the accused before the Court of Municipal Magistrate Jammu for judicial determination.
In another fraud case under FIR No. 21/2023 u/s 420 RPC, Special Crime Wing, Crime Branch Jammu also produced a Charge sheet against Gulzar Ahmed Wani on account of cheating the complainant by fraudulent means on the pretext of providing JDA land/Govt. Job.
In yet another case of cheating and impersonation under FIR No.11/2022 u/s 419,420-IPC, the sleuth of Special Crime wing Jammu led by Inspr. Ashok Bazaz, acting on a specific information succeeded in arresting the accused namely Mohd Imran Khan, son of Azad Khan, resident of Nar Tehsil Mendhar District Poonch who was absconding and was not cooperating in the case. The accused has cheated the Inderjit Singh Raju, son of Shakti Singh Raju, resident of H.No. 66 Ward No. 01 Tehsil & District Ramban by impersonating himself as JEE in ERA J&K and duped Rs. 5.00 lacs on pretext of providing job in ERA. Further investigation of the case is going on.
Through the medium of this press release, SSP SCW Crime Branch Jammu appealed all the citizens to remain extra cautious while making any land deal and cross check the revenue documents from the concerned authorities and also not to pay any heed to the allurements of the fraudster for providing Govt jobs in lieu of money.
