JAMMU, Nov 27: The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of Jammu and Kashmir has successfully apprehended Harjeet Singh, a notorious drug peddler from Abtal Ramgarh in Samba district, who had been evading arrest for several months.
Singh, the son of Jhanda Singh, was booked under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PITNDPS) Act. A warrant under PITNDPS Act, issued on February 14, 2024, by the Divisional Commissioner Jammu (Order No. 18 of 2024), was pending against the accused. Singh is a habitual offender and has been involved in two separate cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The arrest was made possible by the ANTF team, led by Inspector Amandeep Singh, under the direction of Deputy Superintendent of Police Tanweer Gilani and the overall supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police Raj Kumar, ANTF J&K. The operation was conducted with the cooperation of the Samba District Police.
Following his arrest, Harjeet Singh has been lodged in District Jail Kathua, marking a significant success in the region’s ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking.
