JAMMU, Nov 29: The two-day North Zone Rupak Mahotsav concluded with a grand closing ceremony at Central Sanskrit University, Shri Ranvir Campus, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu. The event showcased the vibrant cultural heritage of India through Sanskrit and regional dramas.
Prof Satish Kumar Kapoor, program coordinator, highlighted that over 200 participants from five states performed plays in Sanskrit as well as regional languages such as Dogri, Punjabi, Himachali, Garhwali, Haryanvi, Awadhi and Prakrit during the festival.
The closing ceremony was graced by MLA Jammu North, Sham Lal Sharma as the chief guest, with Campus Director Prof Shridhar Mishra presiding over the event. Special guest Shakti Pathak, Director of the Anti-Corruption Bureau, and Saraswat guest Rajendra Bhardwaj, former editor of Navbharat Times, also attended.
The jury for the festival included senior theatre artist Gurpreet Kaur Jamwal, senior Sanskrit scholar Laxmidutt Shastri and Dr Pushpendra Joshi from Punjabi University.
The play Yuthika by Central Sanskrit University, Ved Vyas Campus, Himachal Pradesh, won the first prize, receiving Rs 7,000 in cash, a certificate, and a trophy. The second prize was shared by Bhasohas from Shri Ranvir Campus Jammu and Mashkadhani from Shri Raghunath Kirti Campus, Devprayag, each receiving Rs 5,000, certificates, and trophies. The third prize went to Vishay Parinayam from Sanatan Dharma Adarsh Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya, Una, which earned Rs 3,000, a certificate, and a trophy. A Special Incentive Award was presented to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Gurukul, Katra, in recognition of their participation, with mementoes and certificates.
Individual achievements were also recognized, with Aryan from Ved Vyas Campus winning Best Actor and Sangeeta from Shri Ranvir Campus named Best Actress. Best Director was awarded to Vinod from Shri Raghunath Kirti Campus, Devprayag. Shri Ranvir Campus, Jammu, won Best Set Design, while Ved Vyas Campus, Himachal Pradesh, was recognized for Best Lighting Arrangement. The Hasya-Nut Award went to Ajay Sharma from Shri Raghunath Kirti Campus and Vandana from SD Adarsh Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya, Una.
