NEW DELHI, Dec 7 : Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday held the second pre-Budget consultation with various farmer associations and leading agricultural economists to seek their suggestions for the forthcoming Budget 2025-26.
During the key meeting held here today, representatives of the agriculture sector gave their suggestions to address the challenges faced by the farmers.
The meeting was also attended by Minister of State (MoS) for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, Finance Secretary Tuhin Kanta Pandey and Economic Affairs Secretary Ajay Seth apart from other senior officials.
“Several significant suggestions were received in the meeting, aimed at enhancing the welfare of farmers and advancing the progress of the agriculture sector, which will provide meaningful direction to the policies of the upcoming budget,” MoS for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said in a post on X.
Later in the day, Sitharaman also chaired a pre-budget consultation with representatives from the MSME sector to gather valuable insights.
“These discussions are crucial for shaping a Union Budget that empowers businesses and drives economic growth. Supporting MSMEs, the backbone of our economy, through policies that foster innovation, ease of doing business, and growth opportunities remains a priority,” Chaudhary said.
The Finance Minister had on Friday this week held the first pre-budget meeting with leading economists to gather their inputs and suggestions for the Budget 2025-26.
Sitharaman would present the Union Budget in February this year, her eighth straight Budget.
