14 bovines rescued, 3 smugglers arrested

UDHAMPUR, Dec 21: Foiling two separate attempts of bovine smuggling, Police today rescued 14 bovines and arrested three alleged smugglers.
Team of Police Station Basantgarh, led by SHO Basantgarh Abdul Star, intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK03E- 3570 at Shivgali area.
During checking, 12 bovines were found laden inside the vehicle in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally without any valid permission.
Driver of the vehicle namely Mohd. Mushtaq, son of Mohd Ghulam of Samroli, Udhampur was arrested and all the rescued bovines were shifted to a safer place.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 30/2024 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Basantgarh.
In another case, a team of Police Station Majalta rescued two bovines from a vehicle bearing registration number .JK03N- 2360 at PCP Battal. Accused driver Mohd. Imran, son of Mohd Hanief of Qazikund and his associate Haroon Ahmed, son of Mohd Azin of Bari Garh, Majalta were arrested on the spot. In this regard, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Majalta.
