SKUAST-J Professors honoured at I’ntl conference

Jammu, Dec 21: Dr S K Gupta, Director Research, SKUAST-Jammu and Dr Rakesh Sharma, Professor of Agricultural Extension Education at SKUAST-Jammu, have been conferred the prestigious title of Fellow of the Indian Ecological Society.
This recognition was awarded during the International Conference on ‘Transforming Agri-Food Systems in the Face of Climate Change and Energy Transitions’ recently held at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU).
Dr S K Gupta, with over 30 years of experience in academia and research has held several key administrative positions at SKUAST-Jammu and other institutes including Director Research, Dean (Faculty of Horticulture & Forestry) and Registrar. He has led 17 major research projects worth Rs 25.81 crores, published 58 research papers and authored three books. His contributions to capacity building and ecological research have been widely acknowledged, earning him multiple national awards.
Dr Rakesh Sharma has been honoured for his significant work in agricultural extension education contributing to the advancement of sustainable agricultural practices and ecological research. He has 60 publications to his credit and also handled 18 research projects being funded by different organizations. He has developed two extension models which are being recognized and certified by Indian Council of Agricultural Research. He has also received Best Extension Scientist Award and Best KVK Professional Award.
