SAMBA, Dec 22: Bovine smugglers tried to crush two cow protectors riding on a motorcycle by hitting them with a vehicle loaded with bovines here on early Sunday morning. After the accident, both the cow protectors were seriously injured and were taken to District Hospital Samba with the help of police. On reaching District Hospital Samba, both were referred to Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu for better treatment after first aid.
The injured have been identified as Amit Sharma (27) and Neeraj Verma (21), both residents of Ghagwal, Samba.
According to the information received, the cow protectors were on a motorcycle and near Nandani in Samba on Jammu Pathankot National Highway, they saw that bovine smugglers were going in a Mahindra vehicle loaded with bovines. When they tried to stop the smugglers, the smugglers deliberately tried to crush them by hitting their motorcycle. Neeraj Verma’s condition is stated to be critical, while Amit Sharma has also suffered serious injuries. As soon as the information of the incident was received, volunteers of social organization Movement Kalki and Gau Rakshak Organization reached the spot. Movement Kalki’s Core Committee member Sanjeev Dubey, Board Member Saurabh Sharma, and Gau Rakshak Organization’s president Kushal Sharma reached the Medical College and enquired about the condition of the injured Gau Rakshaks. They strongly condemned the incident and said that strict action should be taken against the smugglers and a strict law should be made against it. At the same time, they have appealed to the Central Government and the LG administration to give Gau Mata the status of Rashtra Mata. In this regard, the police have registered a case and started further action and are also investigating the CCTV cameras installed in the shops and other places along the highway so that the smugglers and their vehicle can be identified.
