RAJOURI, Dec 22: The Brigadier Usman SPPR Inter District, Tehsil Cricket Tournament 2024, organized by the White Knight Corps concluded with a grand ceremony at the Brigadier Usman Cricket Stadium, Nowshera, today. The event was attended by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Ace of Spade Division, Commander Tithwal Brigade, Commander Nowshera Brigade, DC Rajouri, and other local dignitaries.
The final match played between Sunderbani and Poonch was a thrilling encounter, with Poonch emerging as champions. Poonch successfully chased down Sunderbani’s target of 138 runs in 16.3 overs, losing 7 wickets. Mehboob Sheikh of Poonch was named Man of the Match for his stellar all-round performance, scoring 35 runs and taking 2 wickets. Sunderbani’s Mehrab Mir top-scored with 92 runs. Poonch received the Championship trophy and Rs 4 lakh, while Sunderbani, the runners-up, were awarded Rs 2 lakh.
The tournament saw outstanding individual performances, with Bilal Ahmed named player of the series and receiving a motorcycle. Bilal Ahmed was also awarded Best Batsman with Rs 25,000, and Md Arif took home Rs 25,000 as Best Bowler. The inaugural edition of the tournament featured 8 teams: Udhampur, Akhnoor, Sunderbani, Reasi, Nowshera, Rajouri, Poonch and Doda.
