Mahotsav 2024 concludes with spirit of culture, self-reliance

JAMMU, Dec 22: The second day of Mahotsav 2024, organized by Ladakh Jammu Kashmir Economic Growth and Development Dialogue (LEAD) at GGM Science College, here, was a grand celebration highlighting, art culture and traditions of different regions of J&K and Ladakh. The event saw an impressive lineup of activities and cultural displays that highlighted the rich heritage and traditions of the region. The day began with the enchanting Shiv Vivaah Katha by sages, which captivated the audience with its spiritual and cultural depth. A colorful Lohri-themed celebration under the Chajja Festival added a festive vibe, with vibrant performances by school children. The retelling of the legendary tale of Bawa Jitto, a devout farmer and devotee of Mata Vaishno Devi, drew widespread admiration for its poignant storytelling.
The chief guest, Vikramjit Singh, Commissioner/Secretary to Industries and Commerce Department, lauded LEAD’s efforts in driving investment and preserving the cultural legacy of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh. He was accompanied by Khalid Jehangir, MD, Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organisation (JKTPO).
Sports enthusiasts were treated to an exciting segment called Khel Darshan, featuring traditional games like Kabaddi and Tug of War. A stunning demonstration of Kalari Payattu, an ancient Indian martial art, showcased the region’s traditional prowess and left the audience in awe. Nuzhat Gul, Secretary of J&K Sports Council, graced the occasion and applauded the participants for their exceptional enthusiasm and talent. She expressed her admiration for LEAD’s efforts and announced her intent to collaborate with LEAD in the future to organize a Sports conclave as part of the Mahotsav.
Children at Mahotsav enthusiastically participated in a variety of adventurous activities and rides, adding energy and excitement to the event. The Dome Planetarium experience further captivated their imagination, offering a unique blend of education and entertainment. The spiritual highlight of the day was Maha Aarti organized by the Shri Raghunath Ji Corridor Vikas Council. Inspired by the Ghats of Kashi, the Aarti drew large family audiences and created a serene, devotional atmosphere. Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Ramesh Kumar also visited the Mahotsav 2024 as chief guest in Maha Arti — the main attraction of the day. The evening also featured musical performances by the Slathia Brothers, Saras Bharti and other renowned artists from Jammu and Kashmir, evoking a sense of pride and unity among attendees.
The event was also graced by DIG Jammu Shiv Kumar and other senior police officials, adding to its prominence. LEAD Director Manish Ahluwalia, along with Board Members Harinder Gupta, CA Rajeev Gupta, Rajesh Gupta, Surinder Mohan Gupta, Sanjeev Sharma, Raman Suri, and Vikram Gujral, reiterated their commitment to fostering the region’s growth and prosperity through their presence.
Families attended the Mahotsav in large numbers, appreciating the efforts of LEAD to celebrate cultural heritage and promote regional development. Like previous years, Mahotsav 2024 left an indelible mark, blending tradition and innovation while promoting unity and community spirit.
Kiran Wattal Chairman Global Solace whose organisation was also a part of the Mahotsav 2024 termed it a great initiative of LEAD in highlighting the rich culture of three regions of erstwhile State.
