Need to Preserve Bhimgarh Fort

Sir,
Jammu and Kashmir is home to many historical forts that reflect the region’s rich cultural heritage, military history, and strategic importance. The forts in Jammu are diverse, ranging from ancient structures to more recent fortifications built by various rulers over the centuries. Needless to say, the forts of Jammu and Kashmir are of immense importance even in modern times to understand the history of the erstwhile state.
One such fort is the majestic Bhimgarh Fort which is located in the Raesi district. It is often referred to as the Raesi Fort as well. This fort is associated with the local legends, particularly the story of Bhima from the Mahabharata. It was likely constructed during the Dogra dynasty, although it might have earlier origins. The fort has fallen into a state of ruin but remains an important historical site.
Over time, the fort has faced natural wear and tear, and parts of it remain in a dilapidated condition, requiring restoration and preservation. This fort would be a major tourist destination site in Reasi district if the government provides all basic facilities for the convenience of the visitors otherwise it will fail to attract tourists. So reviving and preservation of Bheemgarh Fort could serve as a means to highlight the region’s history and attract visitors, while also contributing to local education and pride in their heritage.
