KATHUA, Feb 3: The foundation stone of a drinking water project worth 4.5 crores rupees for Lakhanpur town was laid by the MLA Kathua Dr Bharat Bhushan, here today.
The function was held in the presence of DDC Vice Chairman, Raghunandan Singh Bablu.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kathua Dr Bharat Bhushan said, “This project having an allocation of 4.5 crore rupees and will prove as a game changer for Lakhanpur town which is the third largest town after Kathua and Nagri in Kathua Assembly constituency.”
“The project will be executed under Amrut-2.0 component of Jal Jeevan Mission, envisages construction of one Deep Tube Well and two Over Head Tanks (OHTs). Besides the scheme has provision for laying fresh pipes and new water connections will be provided to the inhabitants of the town,” he said.
Dr Bhushan said, “The scheme will be completed in nine months and the executing agency will be responsible for operation and maintenance of the scheme for next five years. When completed, this scheme will cater to the safe drinking water requirement of Lakhanpur town.”
Among others who were present on the occasion included, the Executive Engineer, PHE Department Division Kathua Girdhari Lal Gupta, BDO Keerian, Sakriti Koul, AEE Himanshu Verma, EO Municipal Committee Lakhanpur, Prthvi Raj Sangra, JEs, Ravinder Sharma, Kaka Ram, Surmu Din, Suman Devi, Shingara Singh, Rahul Dev Sharma, Anirudh Sharma, Dilawar Singh, Capt Pawan Sharma, Amit Sudan, Bhanu Partap and Akshay Bharti.
