Resolve pending issues of PHE daily wagers: Som Nath

UDHAMPUR, Feb 3: Jal Shakti (PHE) Employees & Workers Association president and senior Trade Union leader, Som Nath today appealed to the National Conference Government led by Omar Abdullah to take a decision on the pending burning issues of the daily wagers and other consolidated workers of the department.
Addressing a meeting of district executive body at PHE Complex Udhampur today, senior Trade Union leader of Jammu province, expressed full faith in the newly elected Govt in JKUT and hoped that it would take decision about the burning issues of PHE workers and pending wages of 65-70 months (2014-2020) of these hapless daily wagers. He said the pending wages of these period is the backlog during BJP-PDP coalition Govt.
Som Nath appealed to all the elected MLA’s and newly elected Govt to support the daily wagers of their genuine demands to solve them as soon as possible, so that relief be given to them. He claimed that the details (bio-data) of the daily wagers have been submitted many times to the higher authorities but no action has been taken by the department. The minimum wages of Rs. 311/day is only in this UT.
He alleged that the JKUT administration is befooling the daily wagers for the past many years. He demanded that Rs 4.50 crore should be kept to clear the backlog.
Som Nath further demanded regularization of CP, ITI, and land case workers who have rendered 7 years or more service, to release pending wages of 60-65 months of the PHE workers; implement Minimum Wages Act in J&K as per other UTs of the country; remove shortage of staff in the offices and water stations and provide time bound promotions to the PHE employees.
Prominent among others who spoke on the occasion included- Vijay Sharma, Suraj Parkash, Dinesh Kesar, Makhan Chand, Jagdish Magotra, Vinod Kumar, Mohinder Singh, Kuldeep Kumar and Jabar Singh.
