JAMMU, Feb 5: Jammu and Kashmir Police have successfully busted a cattle lifting gang in the Akhnoor area and arrested two individuals.
A police official said that the breakthrough came after a complaint was filed by Bulla Ram, a resident of Tanda, Akhnoor, on 4th February, stating that his buffalo had been stolen by unknown persons.
On this, he said, a case FIR number 21/2025 was registered at the Akhnoor Police Station under relevant sections of the law.
After thorough investigations and technical assistance, police identified and arrested two suspects identified as Mohammad Amjad of Khaleti, Nagrota, and Nazir Ahmed of Kot Bhalwal, Jammu, he said.
During questioning, the police official said that the accused admitted their involvement in the theft.
Accordingly, the stolen buffalo was recovered at their disclosure, in the presence of the complainant.
Additionally, one stolen horse was also seized based on their identification.
The vehicle used in the crime was also recovered and impounded.
