Mandal firing incident

JAMMU, Feb 5: As part of the ongoing investigation into the firing incident in Mandal area, police have recovered two bullet rounds from the crime scene.
Police teams are collecting CCTV footage from various locations and conducting raids in several areas to arrest the accused, who remain at large.
On February 4, at around 6:10 pm, 3-4 youths travelling in an Alto car fired gunshots at three individuals in Mandal, later damaging two parked vehicles before fleeing the scene.
Some social media handles have claimed the responsibility for the attack, but SSP Jammu Joginder Singh said that police are verifying these claims to reach a conclusion.
A police official confirmed that the bullets recovered from the crime scene were fired from a 7.65mm calibre firearm.
According to him, the motive behind the shooting was reportedly a dispute over a property of common interest, rather than a gang conflict.
He said a case (FIR 23/2025) under Section 109(3) BNS and sections 3/4/25 of the Arms Act has been registered at the Satwari Police Station and investigations are ongoing.
