JAMMU, Feb 5: Shiv Sena (UBT) J&K unit has demanded a ban on disposable paper cups as these may cause fatal diseases like cancer.
In a press conference here today, J&K Shiv Sena chief Manish Sahni has said that the trend of consuming tea and other hot beverages in disposable paper cups is increasing with every passing day.
He said that according to a recent study, a layer of hydrophobic film is usually applied to make these cups, which are mainly made of plastic.
“This plastic on reaching our body through these beverages, causes deadly diseases,” Sahni claimed.
He demanded that J&K administration and the concerned departments should issue instructions to ban the use of disposable paper cups.
“The tea lovers have been advised to take care of their health and use Kullhads, glass and steel tumblers for consuming tea,” the Shiv Sena leader maintained.
