JAMMU, Feb 19: All J&K OBC Welfare Forum Srinagar, OBC Mahasabha, All India Backward Classes Federation, Backward Classes Union and some other organizations of Srinagar and Jammu have alleged that administrations of all the 20 districts are not conducting door to door survey to ascertain OBC population in JK UT and the survey being conducted in superficial manner be treated as null and void.
In an emergency meeting of the representatives of these organizations, the members pointed out that after long struggle by these bodies an amendment was made by the government and reservation was accorded to the OBCs in various Urban and Rural Local Bodies. They pointed out that a Dedicated Commission was constituted for this purpose which also held meetings and listened to the members from these communities.
Several such meetings of the Commission were held in Chenani, Billawar, Akhnoor, Srinagar, Baramulla and Anantnag. But it is unfortunate that the district administrations have not conveyed about the population of the OBC communities to the Secretary of the Board or the dedicated Commission.
Senior leaders Ghulam Hassan Sheer Gujri, Farooq Noor, Bansi Lal Choudhary, Mohd Rashid and others said that door to door survey should be conducted to ascertain the exact figure otherwise, this survey will be fudged and just an eyewash. They said any such survey be declared as null and void. OBC people will be deprived of their actual share if such a practice is adopted.
