4th J&K Carrom C’ship commences

SRINAGAR, Feb 27: The 4th J&K UT Level Carrom Championship 2024-25 commenced today at the Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex in Srinagar, with the official inauguration conducted by Adil Rashid Shah, President of the Jammu and Kashmir Carrom Association and Maqsood Khan, Manager of SKISC. The event, which will last for two days, is organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Carrom Association in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council under the “My Youth My Pride” initiative and hosted by the District Srinagar Carrom Association.
The opening ceremony was graced by several dignitaries, including Arif Sultan (Treasurer, J&K Carrom Association), Dawar Rashid (Assistant General Secretary) and other officials. The association expressed sincere gratitude to the J&K Sports Council, especially Nuzhat Gull, Secretary of the Sports Council, for her continuous support in promoting sports in the region.
The championship saw enthusiastic participation with around 120 players from different districts of Jammu and Kashmir competing in various categories. Day 1 of the event featured some exciting and competitive matches across all categories.
The results of Day 1; Cadet Boys: Hasan Adil (Srinagar) defeated Saqib Parvaiz (Kulgam), Orhan Bilal (Pulwama) defeated Ilhan Irshad (Kulgam) and Aman Farooq (Shopian) defeated Firas Irshad (Kulgam)
In Cadet Girls: Lesha Hareem (Pulwama) defeated Khairun Nisa (Baramulla), Mahira Shafi (Baramulla) defeated Fatima Khalid (Kulgam) and Aisha Binti Ishaq (Kulgam) defeated Maliha Maqsood (Srinagar).
Sub-Junior Boys: Ahmad Eazaan (Baramulla) defeated Aatif Aijaz (Kupwara) and Mir Riyan Farooq (Kupwara) defeated Aman Farooq (Shopian). Sub-Junior Girls: Dua Jan (Srinagar) defeated Aisha Aijaz (Kishtwar), Syeda Adil (Srinagar) defeated Mir Aqsa (Kupwara) and Ishra Javid (Budgam) defeated Mahi Mohiddin (Anantnag)
Junior Boys: Hasan Adil (Srinagar) defeated Adnan Gulzar (Srinagar), Momin Mehraj (Srinagar) defeated Faiz Sofi (Srinagar), Mohammad Aiyan Shalla (Srinagar) defeated Ahsan ul Haq (Srinagar) and Zaid Bin Ajaz defeated Umar Jan (Budgam).
Junior Girls: Syeda Adil (Srinagar) defeated Rutba (Kupwara), Maheen Rahiyan (Srinagar) defeated Simran Kour (Jammu) (Walkover) and Fatima Jan (Srinagar) defeated Muskan (Jammu) (Walkover)
Senior Men: Furqan Nazir (Srinagar) defeated Aakash (Srinagar), Shahid (Srinagar) defeated Adil Mohammad (Srinagar) and Saleem Ahmad (Srinagar) defeated Adnan Ahmad (Pulwama).
Senior Women: Minha Arjumand (Srinagar) defeated Saniya Tabusum (Baramulla), Mehandi Mehraj (Srinagar) defeated Safiya Sajad (Baramulla) and Asra (Srinagar) defeated Shazia (Srinagar).
The final matches will be played tomorrow, followed by a prize distribution ceremony where the winners will be honoured. The winners and runners-up will have the opportunity to represent Jammu and Kashmir at the 52nd Senior National Carrom Championship 2024-25 in New Delhi, which will be held from March 17 to 21. The Jammu and Kashmir Carrom Association is committed to nurturing Carrom talent in the UT and encouraging youth participation in competitive sports.
