Deploying teachers for non-teaching jobs

Sir,
Reference to the news item DE dated February, 14. A large number of regular teachers have been deputed for Baseline Survey under Project YUVA. This is the case of non seriousness of the government towards the education of students. As reported a large number of schools including 10+2 are already running headless. Moreover it is the crucial period of the students when their final examinations are very near. At this stage the students need more guidance of their teachers as compared to the earlier period of the session. Not this only, the government teachers are frequently deployed for election duty, various surveys, census duty and for some awareness programmes. This affects the study of the students. In our UT there is already a shortage of teachers as there has been no recruitment of teachers for the last so many years and many schools lack sufficient teachers. Instead of the regular teachers the Government must think of deploying retired teachers or other retired employees along with the regular employees. These retired employees carry a vast experience who can work with responsibility along with the regular employees. This can minimize the requirement of regular teachers and employees . In this way much of the precious time of teachers and students can be saved. The regular teachers can also be saved from punishment on account of their poor results of their students.
