Daylight scooty theft foiled

Excelsior Correspondent

KATHUA, Mar 12: In a daring daylight incident at Bohra village in the Bala Sundri area, three motorcycle-borne youths attempted to steal a scooty (JK08D 0269) at gunpoint, injuring its owner, Ajay Singh, son of Hans Raj.
The assailants, reportedly returning from Bala Sundri Temple after stealing cash, broke the scooty’s lock. When Singh, who was nearby, objected, one of the burglars fired at him with a desi katta before fleeing.
Alert villagers quickly responded, setting up a blockade. As the accused tried to escape via a ‘kaccha’ road, they were overpowered and handed over to the police. Singh, who sustained injuries, has been admitted to GMC Kathua.
The suspects, believed to be from Lohai Malhar, are now in police custody, with their identities yet to be confirmed.
