JAMMU, Mar 15: Punjab National Bank Officers’ Association (PNBOA) Jammu & Kashmir has strongly opposed the newly introduced transfer policy, citing serious concerns over its implications for officers working in high-security and extreme climatic zones like J&K and Ladakh.
Led by general secretary Ashwani Pradhan, the Association’s key office bearers—A B Khajuria, Parshotam Kumar, Arun Sharma, Rahul Gupta, Sanjeev Sharma, Balwinder Kumar and M H Haidry—held a press meet today to voice their opposition.
According to PNBOA (J&K), the new transfer policy fails to consider the safety and well-being of officers posted in sensitive areas. The Association criticized the lack of exemptions for officers serving in high-risk zones, stating that frequent inter-zonal and inter-circle transfers would not only be impractical but also jeopardize operational stability in these regions.
The Association further highlighted the disproportionate impact of the policy on women officers, emphasizing that it fails to accommodate their work-life balance needs. Another major concern raised was the alleged violation of employee rights and fairness.
To address these issues, the association put forward several demands, including the option for officers from Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh to serve in their home regions to ensure stability. Additionally, they urged PNB to launch a Special Recruitment Drive under the UDAAN Scheme to address staff shortages, which would provide a long-term solution to workforce challenges in the region.
PNBOA (J&K) has called on PNB’s management to reconsider the policy in the interest of officer welfare, operational efficiency, and equitable treatment of employees. The Association has also appealed to the Government of J&K and Ladakh to intervene and ensure that officers are treated fairly and justly under the new policy.
