JAMMU, Apr 9: A seminar on topic “Sanskrit and Cultural Heritage” organized by Senior Citizens Joy Society (SCJS) was held here today.
The event was graced by the presence of Shastri Purushotam Lal Dubey, a revered Vedic and spiritual scholar, as the chief guest and was presided over by Dr Shreyansh Kumar Jain, Chairman, SCJS.
Ashok Kumar Gupta opened the session with an insightful introduction to the theme, setting the tone for a rich academic and cultural discourse.
Dr Jain recited a heartfelt poem emphasizing the importance of Sanskrit and India’s cultural values, as a tribute to the chief guest.
In his keynote address, Shastri Purushotam Lal Dubey eloquently explained the richness of Sanskrit and its integral role in shaping India’s cultural legacy.
Through a meaningful poem, he said, “Sanskrit is one of India’s most ancient and enriched languages, often referred to as the “language of the gods.” It is the origin of sacred scriptures such as the Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas and epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata. Sanskrit forms the foundation of our cultural and spiritual ethos.”
“Our cultural heritage extends beyond temples, classical dance-dramas, or sculpture-it is reflected in our lifestyle, speech, traditions, customs, and moral values. Sanskrit has played a vital role in preserving and promoting this legacy,” he said.
On the occasion, Shastriji generously offered a free-of-cost, 10-day course in easy conversational Sanskrit, encouraging all attendees to participate.
Several senior citizens enrolled on the spot, showing enthusiasm for the noble initiative.

The seminar concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, in which eminent personalities like Prof Virender Gupta, H C Vaid, Rajneesh Gupta, Narinder Wadhera, C M Sharma, Yash Paul Sharma, and Anju Bansal actively participated and enriched the discussion.
