JAMMU: Child Welfare Committee Jammu, in association with Brainpreneurs – Child Development Centre (CDC) on Saturday organised a workshop webinar “Social and emotional competency”.
The main objective was to address and cater to the essential set of personal, social & emotional skills like self-introspection, relationships, decision making, out of the box thinking etc. The workshop covered around 130 adolescent children staying in 7 different Child care Institutions in Jammu district, focusing on giving a sense of belongingness to children and also to give them a platform to discuss any issues they are facing during this time of lockdown, social distancing & pandemic.
District Magistrate Jammu, Anshul Garg; District Social Welfare Jammu Ajay Salaan; Chairperson Child Welfare Committee Jammu, Shalini Sharma, along with its members, Dr.Anupa Sharma, PO Institutional Care and Sunaina Tickoo, Founder & CEO Brainpreneurs- Child Development also attended the online event. Anshul Garg started off the workshop with an interactive session and talked about how the pandemic has changed the life of people and also helped to better understand ourselves. The participating children inquired about the current pandemic situation, opening of schools, vaccination process and more, which the DC responded to the satisfaction of the kids.
Ajay Salaan interacted with the children and asked about their requirements of any and assured to fulfill their needs timely. The workshop was an interactive one where almost all the children participated in some form or fashion. The conversation and activities revolved around self-awareness, self-management, understanding values and belief system, decision making, creating positive relationships, thinking out of the box and many more relevant topics.
The workshop helped in understanding how children acknowledge their situation, strengths, weakness, challenges and also how they try to deal with them with utmost awareness.
