Delimitation essential to make Assembly elections meaningful

JAMMU: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta has welcomed the All Party Meeting called by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for furtherance of the delimitation of constituencies in the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory. He said that in order to make the election to the J&K Assembly perfectly meaningful it is necessary to conclude the delimitation exercise first.
In a statement issued to media here today, Kavinder Gupta termed the convening of the aforesaid meeting as a good step for starting the political process. He asserted that pacing up the political process has become necessary especially in view of the fact that the affairs of J&K Union Territory are being run by bureaucracy since the abrogation of Art 370. He appreciated the Central Govt’s initiative of taking all the political parties into confidence for initiating the final step towards installing a duly elected representative government of the people in J&K UT. He asserted that in order to make the election to the J&K Assembly perfectly meaningful it is necessary to conclude the delimitation exercise first.
The former Dy CM said that the upcoming time will be a Golden Period for Jammu and Kashmir and its people as new opportunities will be created for the people of this part of the nation which is evident from the fact that Centre is already in the process of initiating measures to make the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir an Information Technology (IT) as well as Education hub. Highlighting the central government’s efforts in the direction of giving boost to every sector, he said that the Tirumala Temple complex will boost the religious tourism thus set to play a major role in boosting the economy of the UT.
Meanwhile, the former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta along with Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta visited Bahu Fort and interacted with people of the area and shopkeepers of Bawe Wali Mata Temple.
The residents and shopkeepers of the area demanded Sulabh Sochalya outside the temple market and regularisation of Parsad Shops. Besides, beautification of road upto Mahamaya Mandir also demanded.
Kavinder Gupta and Mayor Chander Mohan assured for early redressal of their demands.
Deputy Mayor Purnima Sharma, Corporators Sharda Kumari, Surinder Chowdhary and Sham Lal Basan; Rajeev Charak, Vinay Gupta District President; Anuradha Charak, Lucky Puri, Ankush Sharma, Vivek Patyal, Atul Bakshi, Dalbir Singh and Sumit Bajrangi.
Meanwhile, Kavinder Gupta also visited Sector-9 in Ward-43 to take stock of problems of the people in that area. The Corporator of the ward, Surjeet Singh Choudhary (Pappu) along with the people apprised the former CM about the problems being faced by them.
After giving them a patient hearing Kavinder assured to take up their problems with the concerned authorities and get them resolved at the earliest.
Prominent among those present on the occasion were Ashok Gupta, Dr Raj Kumar, Dewan Chand Sharma, Daulat Ram Gupta, Mohan Lal, Pawan Kumar, Pardeep Sharma, Amit Mahajan, Babbu Choudhary, Ajay Gupta, Bablo Bedi, Kewal Kumar, Gara Choudhary, Sanjay Sharma and Khem Raj.
