JAMMU: Patent free vaccine pledge programme was organized by Swadeshi Jagran Manch on Sunday while celebrating June 20 as the World Awakening Day.
In the programme about 25 volunteers of the Manch and other organizations participated with posters and banners in hands appealing WTO to make the COVID vaccine patent free for its easy and early availability.
On this occasion, the speakers said that Swadeshi Jagran Manch has been actively launching this campaign since the last two months across the nation and today the people of Jammu district have also supported this noble cause.
The hindrance in the large-scale production of COVID vaccines is the Patent Laws and Intellectual Property Rights under the provisions of TRIPS of WTO, which do not permit other pharma companies to manufacture these vaccines, they said.
Patent laws thus need to be relaxed to increase the production of vaccines and medicines to save the 787 crore population of the world from the clutches of corona, they said.
Vijay Kumar Johar , Brij Mohan Sharma, Vishal Sharma, Vikas Sharma, Seva Ram, Ambedkar Gupta , Rama Johar and other functionaries were present on the occasion.
