AKHNOOR: GDC Akhnoor celebrated NSS Unit in Collaboration with Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Club of GDC Akhnoor Celebrated International Yoga Day by organising online essay writing and video recording competitions under the guidance of Dr Namarta, Principal of the college. The theme of essay writing competition was “Yoga is Key to Wellness”. The online activities were organized by Dr. Sanjay Kapoor, Assistant Professor in Chemistry (NSS Programme Officer) and Prof. Pooja (Nodal Officer EBSB). The Participants of online essay writing competition in English were adjudged by Prof. Moni Mehra (Senior Assistant Professor in English) of GDC Paloura while those of video recording competition were adjudged by Dr. Puja Nanda (Senior Assistant Professor in Chemistry) of GCW Parade Jammu. In Essay writing competition the first position was bagged by Kanish Bhau of GDC Akhnoor, the second by Anjali Sharma of GDC Akhnoor and the third position by Juhi Sharma of KC college of Education .On the other hand in video recording competition Kanika Sharma of GDC Akhnoor clinched the first position. Sonali Verma of GDC Akhnoor and Juhi Sharma of KC college of Education secured second and third positions respectively.
Meanwhile, Department of Swasthavritta and yoga Government Ayurvedic Medical college Akhnoor celebrated 7th International Yoga Day in Virtual Mode. During the event Faculty, students attended live yoga Session and performed different Asans and Pranayam. Prof (Dr)Shashi Sudan Sharma was also the Chairperson of the event. Dr Narinder Sharma ( Nodal officer)on the occasion also expressed his views about yoga. Dr Abhishek Magotra, Associate Professor and HOD department of Swasthavritta and yoga GAMC was the organising secretary of the event. Dr Sheetal Gupta Assistant professor Department of Swasthavritta and yoga coordinated the event. From students side Rupali Salgotra, Raghav Rachit Sharma and Ayush Verma( GAMC Akhnoor) coordinated the event.
JINDRAH: EBSB Club of GDC Jindrah celebrated International Yoga Day virtually under the guidance of Prof (Dr.) Rajshree Dhar, Principal of the College. Faculty, staff and students enthusiastically participated online through practicing Yoga at their home and acclimating the body to Yogic exercises & Yoga. The whole programme was organized by Prof. Poonam Rainu , Nodal officer Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat Club of the college with active support from all other faculty members and students of the college.
RS PURA: 2 J&K Girls BN NCC and 2 J&K BN NCC, Jammu of Government Degree College R.S. Pura organized an Online Extempore Competition to celebrate 7th International Yoga Day under the guidance of the Principal Dr. G.S. Rakwal and supervision of Dr. Chetan Sharma, ANO Boys NCC and Lt. Shaveta Chowdhary, ANO Girls NCC. The various topics on which cadets spoke were Yoga and Meditation, Yoga and Inner-peace, Yoga and Self -consciousness, Yoga in times of Corona, Yoga and Immunity etc… A total of 10 cadets participated in the competition whereas 32 Cadets attended the online event. Cadet Tanveer Singh from Boys Bn bagged the first prize where as Cadet Vishali Kumari and Cadet Rohit Rajput jointly bagged second prize. The third prize was bagged by Cadet Bharti Lakhotra from Girls Bn.
RAMGARH: To commemorate 7th International Day of Yoga, Government Degree College, Ramgarh organized an event themed ‘Yoga for well being’ which is also the theme of this year’s International Yoga Day.
Under the auspices of Principal of college Prof. (Dr.) Meeru Abrol Red Ribbon Club, GDC Ramgarh organized an online campaign on ‘Yoga for well being’.
The event was successfully organized by Dr. Sandeep Kumar and Prof. Risha Kumari, Nodal Officers of Red Ribbon Club. Staff members Dr. Aditi Khajuria, Prof. Seema Sharma and Dr. Shamsher Lal also actively participated in the event to make it successful.
THANNAMANDI: Department of Physical Education & Sports in collaboration with Cultural and literary committee under the theme “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava” celebrated the “International Yoga Day”. A series of events were organized to commemorate the day which included webinar on “Inculcation of values through yoga”. A national Level Online Quiz on yoga and Activities performed by students of the college at home under the theme (yoga for well being).
The guest speaker on webinar was Dr. Syed Tariq Murtaza PhD Professor Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. Welcome address was given by Dr. Ibrahim Lone Head Department of Physical Education and Sports and proceeding of the webinar was conducted by Dr. Khalid Rayaz (HOD Geography). Formal vote of thanks was given by Prof. Ajaz Nazir (HOD Physics).
Second event was an online National Quiz contest in which about 115 participants took part. E-certificates were given to the participants scoring above 50 per cent .
The entire programme was conducted successfully under the patronship of Dr. Javaid Ahmed Qazi (Principal). Dr. Ibrahim Lone was the organizer of the webinar and Prof. Rahila Mushtaq was the event coordinator.
BHADARWAH: IQAC GDC Bhadarwah in collaboration with NCC , NSS and 2nd JK (I) Coy NCC Bhaderwah organized week long event on international Yoga Day 2021 with the Theme ” Be with Yoga , Be at Home” from 14 -21st June 2021. Live Yoga session was organized on IYD 2021 in which SUO Manoj , cadet Salooni and cadet Shivani acted as master trainers and the cadets ,students, staff, ANOs and many families and other guests followed them while performing Yoga exercises and Yoga Asaanas. The session was very enjoying as participants performed Yoga with their families. Main Asaanas performed on the occasion were Tar Asaana, Bhujang asana, uttaasana, chatruranga asana, etc in addition to breathing exercises as anulom, viloum(inhale/exhale).
All these activities were carried out through whatsapp groups for the purpose and online live performances via google meet under the supervision of Prof S.S.Parihar , Convenor, IQAC and Prof Prithvi Raj, ANO, NCC .

REASI: Amid the pandemic of COVID-19 Department of Psychology, Govt. General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College, Reasi virtually celebrated 7th International Yoga Day 2021 on the topic Achieving . An online demonstrative lecture was organized for both students and faculty of colleges. Programme was inaugurated with a welcome note by Dr. Rajinder Kumar, Assistant Professor GDC Reasi. Dr. Mainsha Sarup Kohli, Head Department of Psychology, GDC Udhampur and Amit Kumar, Yoga Counsellor, IGNOU New Delhi were the two resource persons of the day.
KISHTWAR: Dulhasti Power Station has celebrated International Day of Yoga with full enthusiasm and zeal. As per the guidelines issued to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, and as per the guidelines issued by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, Head of Dulhasti Power Station Nirmal Singh, General Manager (I/c) advised all officers and staff of Dulhasti Power Station to participate in the programme along with their family members from their homes through digital media while following the theme of International Day of Yoga for this year.
On this occasion, Nirmal Singh, General Manager (I/c), Dr. Nisha Sharma, General Manager (Medical Services), R.N Sharma General Manager (Civil) and Surendra Kr. Mishra General Manager (Electrical), along with officials and employees practiced various yogasanas from their residences.
BILLAWAR: Department of Physical Education and Sports, GDC Billawar (Kathua) organised Online Inter-Collegiate competition on “Yoga at Home and Yoga with Family” on the eve of 7th International Yoga Day from 18-21 June, 2021. Principal of the college, Prof. Anita Jamwal started the event by virtual inaugural speech.
Students from various institutions including Constituent Colleges of Cluster University of Jammu, GCW Majalta, GDC Billawar. Student namely, Diksha Thakur (GDC Majalta) secured first position, Pallavi (GCW Gandhi Nagar) secured second position and Vinita Sharma (GDC Billawar) secured third position in the slogan writing completion on the theme “Yoga at Home and Yoga with Family”. Akash Raina secured 1st position, Arief Bano secured 2nd and Jagdish Singh secured 3rd position of GDC Billawar in the Picture completion with family on Yoga Asana. Akash Raina; Bharti Devi and Sapna Bhagat of GDC Billawar secured 1st position, 2nd and 3rd position respectively in the Video competition on Yoga Asana and its Importance. Ravi Kumar (PTI), Director of Physical Education and Sports was the convenor of the event. Dr.Arun Sharma, Prof. Anil Kumar Verma and Dr. Shiv Kumar Khajuria organised the event.
MAHANPUR: Government Degree College Mahanpur celebrated 7thInternational Yoga Day under the patronage of Principal of the college, Dr. R K Koul. The day was celebrated by organizing an online inter college activity i.e “Picture/Video while performing Yoga asanas,”. The theme for the event was “Yoga for well-being”. The activity was organized by Department of Physical Education in collaboration with EK Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) club and NSS unit of the college.
The organizing committee comprises of Coordinator Dr. Balbinder Singh (Phy. Director), Prof. Arvind Kumar (EBSB-Coordinator), Dr. Sapna Devi (Incharge NSS). Dr. Munisha Devi, Saurabh Dutta, Dr. Parshotam Dass, , Dr. Neetika Verma, Prof. Anu Sharma, Prof. Naresh Kumar and Dr. Hilal Ahmed. On the basis of performance Piyush sharma of GDCW Udhampur, Shipali Sharma of GDCW Udhampur and Shivali Sharma GDC Mahanpur were adjudged for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place respectively. JAKH: A series of activities occurred on vertual mode in GGHSS Jakh on the eve of 7th International Yoga Day. Students and NCC cadets of SD &JD wing 4th BN J&k NCC actively participated in the online Essay writing, Yoga Asanas jingle writing, Brief videos on yoga activities were uploaded by the cadets. ANO S/0ffr Gulshan Sharma and care taker Ajay Singh Charak along with cadets have been taking part in online Yoga shivir organised under the aegis of Director school Education Jammu in collaboration with Bhartiya Yog Sanstha. On 21st of June, a small yoga Shivir was organised in which Sarpanch Bagla Jakh Romesh Chander, locals,staff members performed yoga while observing social distance. Worthy principal Jakh Sudesh appreciated the efforts of Sarpanch, PRI members, NCC wings of the Jakh school and called upon the students to observe the ideals of yoga Asanas to keep ourselves emotionally, mentally and physically fit.
UDHAMPUR: Under the guidance of his Lordship Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, Executive Chairman J&K legal Services Authority, M.K Sharma Member Secretary JKSLSA, Yash Paul Bourney Chairman DLSA Udhampur and under the overall Supervision of Rajni Sharma Sub Judge/ Secretary DLSA Udhampur, District Legal Services Authority in collaboration with Bhartiya Yog Sansthan today celebrated “International Yoga Day” by conducting an online one day Workshop on “COVID 19 Pandemic, Mental Health and Yoga” with utmost fervor and enthusiasm . The online Workshop was attended by Ld. Judicial officers, J.D Slathia President Bar Association Udhampur, Members of the Bar Association Udhampur, Police officers, Yoga Experts of BhartiyaYog Sansthan Dr. Suresh Gupta, Senior vice president , Mohini Sharma Prantiya Sadasya, Demonstrators Chazzu Ram, Upkaar Singh, S.K Gandotra, Panel Lawyers, PLVs and students of Colleges, Govt. & Non-Govt. Schools.
The Programme was inaugurated with the welcome address of Sub judge/Secretary Rajni Sharma and she put emphasis on the significance of Yoga by saying the aim of celebrating the Day was to enlighten the participants about the countless benefits that yoga has to offer.
The Proceedings of the Programme was conducted by Raman Gupta PA to DDC udhampur. The programme ended with the Gayatri Mantra by S.K Gupta, Shanti Paath by Upkaar Singh Jawwal and the Pledge to imbibe yoga for a long, healthy and quality life. 7th International Yoga Day was celebrated at Sher-I-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur. The function organized at the main Parade ground of the Academy where a number of Yoga Asanas were performed by the staff and trainees under the supervision of V. K. Jamwal, SSP, Dy. Director Outdoor Training. Mohan Lal, Dy. Director (Indoor), K. K Sharma, DySP, AD (Q), Ramesh Kataria, DySP(S), PS to Director, Suraj Singh, DySP, AD (Trainings / R&D), Tahir Hussain, AD (Admn.), Zahid Saif Wani, DySP, AD (Indoor) also participated in the Yoga session.
Bhaskar Degree College (BDC) in collaboration with Bhartiya Yog Sansthan has celebrated 7th International Yoga Day in Udhampur.
A live Yoga camp was organized under the overall supervision of principal of the college Dr. S.K. Magotra and Lect. Pinaki Bakshi, NSS Programme Officer of the college. In camp Anil Sharma, secretary BYS and Mohani Sharma, member of BYS performed live yoga online, which was followed by students very well in the early morning. Beside this an intra-college poster making competition was organized on the theme “Yoga- the essence of healthy life”, in which NSS volunteers participated pretty enthusiastically by presenting the benefits of yoga in creative and beautiful form. Chairman of the college lauded the participants and staff of BDC also.
Bharat scouts and Guides Udhampur Celebrated International Yoga Day 2021 along with District organising Commissioner Udhampur Rakesh Singh and District Headquarter Commissioner Vivek Gupta. “Scout students of Different units including Everest Public High school Udhampur, Common public Higher secondary school practice different Asanas and also speaks about their precautions and benefits. Scout students also participated in Poster making competition and Quiz competition”. District secretary Udhampur Balwan Singh while interacting with students said that our ancient traditions and customs stressed on Yoga and Ayurveda for building immunity of body to protect ourselves from diseases.

KATRA: Government Degree College Katra organized the Inter-College Online Poster Making Competition on the occasion of International Yoga Day 21st June 2021. The competition was held under the guidance and supervision of Dr. C.K. Khajuria, Principal, GDC Katra, Reasi.
Neeli Nallah: Govt. Degree College Neeli Nallah, Udhampur under the guidance of Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Satinder Kaur organized an Inter-College Online Yoga Activity on the occasion of “International Yoga Day”. The students from various Degree Colleges have participated in the competition. The last date of sending the entries was 21th June 2021. E-certificates will be sent to best ten participants.The organizers of the event were Dr. Kamaldeep Kaur, Prof. Swati Dutt, and Dr. Radha Rani.
POONCH: Department of Philosophy and NCC Unit, Govt Degree College Poonch in Collaboration with Department of Dogri, Govt College for Women, Parade Ground, Jammu organised one day National webinar on ” Yoga: a treasure”. Prof Indoo Panday Khanduri, Department of philosophy, Director Development Centre, Pt Madan Mohan Malviya, National Mission for teachers and teaching, Ministry of Education, Govt of India, Uttrakhand was the Chief guest where as Prof M S Shah, Principal , Govt Degree College Poonch Presided over the program. Prof Yogesh Kumar, Department of Philosophy, Govt Degree College Poonch presented the welcome address.
SUNDERBANI: Department of Physical Education and Sports in collaboration with NCC and NSS unit of Govt. Degree College Sunderbani, Rajouri organized an inter-college online 7th International Yoga Day 2021.
The entire programme was organized by Ravi Kumar (Physical Training Instructor) and coordinated by Prof. Sham Lal (Nodal Officer NSS) and Prof. Beant Singh (HOD Punjabi). The competition was conducted under the overall supervision of Prof. (Dr.) Vandana Gupta, Principal of the College. In this competition, the Students were provided with e-certificate of participation which was generated online.
In this competition a large number of students were participated and 1st Position was bagged by Rohit kumar from 2nd Sem, 2nd Position clinched by Ankush Kumar from 2nd Sem, and 3rd Position secured by Sachin Sharma from 2nd Sem.
KHOUR: Govt. Degree College Khour organised an event to observe the 7th International Yoga Day. During the event Principal, staff (teaching & non-teaching) and students of the College performed various yogic activities like Yoga Asanas and Pranayam. The event was organized under the able guidance of Principal of the College Prof. Hans Raj. The whole event was conducted under the expertise of Prof. Goutam Sharma and Prof. Suresh Kumar of Department of Sports and Physical Education.
NOWSHERA: 7th International Yoga Day celebrated at Boys Higher Sec. School Nowshera with great zeal and zest. Romy Choudhary has demonstrated the in a effective way. Speaking on the occasion Sukhdev Singh Additional Deputy Commissioner Nowshera and Amit Verma Additional SP Nowshera asked the about the importance of yoga . They everyone should perform yoga in routine for fitness. PURMANDAL: A brief programme on the theme “Yoga for Physical, Emotional and Mental well being” was organized by faculty members of Government Degree College, Purmandal with the aim of promoting yoga as an integral part of living to ensure well being of mankind, in the wake of covid-19 pandemic. A large number of students from the college performed yoga at home and uploaded yoga performing videos and pictures on the whatsapp group which was exclusively created for discussion with the students on the relevance and importance of yoga. The Principal of the college, Prof. Seema Mir, briefed the students about the benefits of yogic exercises on the health of individuals. The event was organized by Prof. Shahima Akhter (HOD, Environmental Sciences) and co-ordinated by Prof. Nirlape Kour (HOD, Political Science). The technical support was provided by Akshay (Computer operator of the college).

International Yoga Day -2021 was observed at IRP 19th Battalion Headquarters, Kathua taking all necessary precautions in view of Covid-19 pandemic and strictly adhering to SoP.
SSP Benam Tosh Commandant IRP 19th Battalion extending greetings to the officers and Jawans as also to the public of Kathua on the occasion of International Yoga Day said that Yoga is the best preventive therapy for depression, addiction and many other diseases including Covid-19.
POONCH: On the occasion of International Yoga Day, BJP Ex MLC Poonch Pardeep Sharma along with his party leaders Captain Bansi Lal Ex Party President, Paramjeet Singh Gen. Secretary, Abhinandan Sudan Urban Mandal Pardhan and Whole Mahila Morcha team performed Yoga at his residence.
On the occasion of International Yoga Day, Krishna Ghati Brigade organised Interactive Yoga Camp for Awaam at Tain, Balnoi & Gulpur villages in Poonch district. Fun Yoga Camp for children of Baba Garib Das Academy, Salotri, Poonch was also organised wherein children learnt yoga while having fun.
District Police Poonch also celebrated International Yoga Day with the enthusiastic participation of, SSP Poonch Dr. Vinod Kumar, Addl. SP Poonch Liaqat Choudary, DySP DAR Sachin Gupta and DYSP (Op’s) Munish Sharma and various other officers and officials of DPL Poonch. The event was celebrated after adopting all the appropriate COV1D-19 behavior. Worthy SSP on the occasion briefed the officers/ Officials about the essence of yogic exercises on the health of individuals in everyday life and highlighted the potential for customization to suit die individual & thereafter held a long practice session with demonstration of yoga Aasans. The numerous benefits of Yoga make it popular practice for people , especially in times of Pandemic when mental and physical health is under stress. The whole programme was organised by DYSP DAR Sachin Gupta (JKPS) and arranged by active support from Gurmeet Singh (SI) LO DPL Poonch. Similar programmes are also held at various Police establishments of the District.
Hiranagar: The NSS Unit of GLDM Degree College Hiranagar celebrated 7th international yoga day-2021 under the patronage of the Principal Prof. Kuldeep Singh Koushal and supervision of Prof. Rakesh Sharma NSS PO. On this occasion a series of online activities were conducted on the Theme-‘Yoga For Wellness.
About 45 NSS volunteers took part in series of activities like-Poster Making, Short Video Making and Practicing Yoga Aasans.In these activities NSS volunteers expressed the benefits of Yoga practices in the holistic development of body, mind and spirit.
Meanwhile, Shakti Punj Organization in collaboration with Guru Swasthya Yoga & Ayurveda started 4 days free of cost Yoga Shivir in the premises of Maa Kaali Temple Jasmerghar Fort , Hiranagar in which Swami Krishna Nand graced the occasion as a Chief guest and this 4 days Yoga Shivir is organized with the blessings and support of Swami Shri Krishna Nand.
Ayurveda & Yoga consultant Dr. Guru Prasad Sharma and Lakhinder Singh not only demonstrated Various Yogasanas but also gave detailed information about the benefits and need of adopting Yoga in day to day life.
RAJOURI: Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University celebrated International Yoga day at it Campus. The Event was organized by the directorate of Physical Education and Sports, BGSBU. On the occasion, Prof. Akbar Masood, Vice chancellor, BGSBU emphasized on the importance of yoga for physical, mental and spiritual health. Those who were present on the occasion included Registrar of the University Mohd. Ishaq, Dean of Students, Prof. G.M. Malik, OSD Physical Education and Sports Mohammad Rashid Chowdhary and other officials of the varisty.
Nowshera: Department of Physical Education and Sports in collaboration with NCC Unit of Govt. Degree College, Nowshera under the aegis of IQAC organized Two Days Yoga Workshop through virtual mode to celebrate “International Day Of Yoga. A Large number of faculty Members and students of different Colleges and Universities participated in the two days workshop. Ravi Chander, Yog Expert, certified from Patanjali Yog Peeth, Haridwar, was the Resource person. The workshop was aimed to celebrate the international day of Yoga 2021 and to promote yoga for healthy living.
A yoga session was also organized by Department of Physical Education and Sports in Collaboration with Department of Sanskrit for both Faculty members and students. A detailed demonstration of various yogasanas was made by Dr. Gourav Sharma, HOD Sanskrit of the college. The Event was organized under the patronage of Dr. Surinder Kumar, Principal of the college and under the supervision of Prof. Joginder Singh, Coordinator IQAC GDC Nowshera, Dr. Akhil Khajuria, HOD Physical Education and Sports was the Programme Coordinator.
Kishtwar: 7th International Yoga Divas was celebrated on 21st June’2021 in CVPPPL Corporate office, Jammu and all its projects at Kishtwar following the Covid-19 guidelines. Sr officers of CVPPPL performed yoga Asanas and Pranayaamguided by Yoga experts from Patanjali YogPeeth, Jammu.
The day was also celebrated at PakalDul, Kiru and Kwar HE Projects of CVPPPL at Kishtwar virtually through online mode as well as organising yoga physically following Covid-19 protocol.
VIJAYPUR: NSS Unit (Khidmat) of GDC Vijaypur celebrated the Seventh International Yoga Day on June 21,2021 under the guidance of Principal of the College, Prof. (Dr.) Sangeeta Sudan in which staff and students participated in the 45 minutes Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) along with their family members and also took an online pledge at yoga.ayush.gov.in to make yoga an integral part of their life and were also awarded certificates from Ministry of Ayush. To spread the message of traditional Yoga far and wide, for the betterment of both physical and mental health , to commemorate the spirit of creating awareness about the culture of Yoga in India and inumerable benefits of practicing yoga and integrating it in the fabric of daily lives a Campaign-cum-Photo and video contest “Be with Yoga, Be at home” was organized by NSS Programme Officer, Dr. Sunil Kumar Mangoch in which volunteers performed Yog Asanas at their home with family and friends and uploaded pictures and short videos on social media platforms thereby motivating, inspiring and encouraging youth and common masses to become active participants in the celebration of IDY 2021 and nurture the invaluable gift of Indian tradition by understanding its importance and practicing it on regular basis keeping one fit and healthy.
Dr. Sangeeta Sudan, Principal GDC Vijaypur also spoke on the ocassion. In the photo and video contest competition organized online the first position was secured by Raghav Banotra (B.Com, Sem IV) of GDC Vijaypur, second position was secured by Manjeet Singh (B.Com, Sem IV) of GDC Vijaypur while third position was secured by Palvi (B.Sc, SemVI ) of GCW Gandhi Nagar. The adjucators of the contest were Dr. Shittal Sharma, Prof. Anil Bhagat and Dr. Sunil Kumar Mangoch. E-certificates were awarded to all the winners.
Rajouri: NCC Unit (Girls Wing),Govt P G College, Rajouri celebrated the Seventh International Yoga Day on 21 June, 2021 under the patronage of the Principal of the College, Prof. (Dr.)Shakeel Ahmed Raina.
The cadets performed more than 30 asanas and participated in various activities like poster making, writing articles, taking pledges, etc. The NCC Officer(SW) , Prof Salma Farooq also conducted an online Quiz Competition in which colossal number of cadets participated and Iqra Batool, Ayaz Khan and Anshika Sharma were declared as the First, Second and Third winner respectively. The first three winners were awarded with prize and e-certificates were given to all the participants.
Department of Philosophy and NCC Unit of GDC Poonch in collaboration with GCW Parade Ground Jammu organised a one day National level Webinar on the topic
Prof. Indoo Panday Khanduri, Department of Philosophy, Director Development Centre Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya, National Mission for Teachers and Teaching, Ministry of Education, Govt. Of India, Uttarakhand was the chief guest whereas Prof. M S Shah, Principal GDC Poonch presided over the programme and S. Jasleen Singh NCC Cadet First Semester anchored the whole programme. The programme began with the singing of the National anthem by the NCC Cadets of GDC Poonch and after national anthem cadets too performed various yog aasnas. Prof Yogesh Kumar Sharma, Department of Philosophy, GDC Poonch presented the welcome address. Prof. Ganga Sharma, National Yuva Sahitya Awardee, Department of Dogri, GCW Parade Ground Jammu gave the introduction of the Yoga in detail wherein she mentioned about the contributions of Maharishi Patanjali, relevance of Yoga during the pandemic Covid 19. DySP Shahida Ganguly laid stress on the introduction of Yoga as a mainstream subject from the school level that will help the students to manage the burden of stress in their life. Prof Indoo Panday Khanduri in her address yoga is not only about aasnas and poses , yoga is a broader term that includes the incremental progression of the mind and the body of an individual. Prof. M S Shah, Principal GDC Poonch in his special address laid stress on the importance of yoga in overcoming the fear, anxiety and depression during the ongoing pandemic Covid 19. Prof S P Saraswat, Principal GCW Parade Ground Jammu was unable to join the programme because of the sad demise of his Father-in-law. Dr. Kavita Bhatt, Yoga expert , Central University Gharwal, Dr. Sudheer Pal, yoga instructor, Yoga centre, Indira Nagar, Lucknow while presenting their respective lectures on Yoga practice, aasnas told about the breathing exercises and controlling many life style diseases like Diabetes, blood pressure, etc. Faculty members , research scholars and students from various colleges and universities participated and made this event a great success. The programme ended with the NCC song presented by NCC Cadets of GDC Poonch. Prof. Yogesh Kumar Sharma culminated the programme by presenting the vote of thanks.
